Hello guys. Has anyone experienced problems with the steering? last night, when i'm making a L turn, it feels weird. my steering wheel feels heavy, it's hard to turn the steering wheel, and after i turned, my car's steering wheel won't turn back to the middle.. i almost crashed my car into another car/sidewalk. Today, i bought my car to the dealer. they diagnosis the problem. it was my power steering rack. they told me the part itself cost $1,500 and $450 labor. Am i the only one experienced the problem?

 

and does anyone know what cause the problem? i assume TOWN FAIR TIRE screwed it up when they are doing my aligment/balance.

 

Get professional opinion from dealership tech (if they are willing to do one in writing) or go to certified body / mechanical shop where they can place in writing what might have caused the issue. THEN - you go back to those guys and talk to their manager.

Once you have a paper that states probable cause of it - they may be able to do something... worth of trying if you suspect it's them...

 

well i don't want to go back to the same place. because i told them i was going to come back the next day pay for the parts and replace the steering rack. well thanks anyways. i just wanted to know if i'm the only one that has problem with it.

 

Have you had it since it was new? It would have had front end damage.

Do you know if the PS hose recall work was done?

 

The only time I have ever had a power steering rack issue I hit a 50 lb dog going 55+ in Legend #1. She went under the left front tire. Did someone jump a curb in your car?

 

I bought the car about 4 and half year ago. it was preowned certified from an Acura dealership. It had 25k mile on it. On the carfax, it didn't report any accident. the car was in mint condition. I had the PS hose recalled completed a long time ago. I never hit anything except 2ish years ago when i was in NY i flew over a bump going 40+ and damaged the plastic cover near the under front cover. Its weird how it suddenly my power steering rack is not working properly. For real, no one else had this issue? -.-
