I was cleaning my RL on saturday and found a disturbing mark on the rt a pillar.
can't tell yet if the clear is peeling or it is a minor rock chip.

Already tried, I have been using zaino for years. I work for a collision center and wrote service for Honda for over nine years. I hope that it is just a rock chip I don't want to have any paint work done. the spot is just so small that it is hard to tell what it is.

The lower half of my rear bumper on my new 2005 RL was rough and dull. After trying clay and rubbing alcohol, it was clear it wasn't the coating. The dealer has a (crappy) body shop. I was finally able to get this stuff off with Zaino's No. 1 (basically, a paint cleaner). I suspect this was contamination from clearcoat or something else applied to other cars in the body shop. Now the bumper looks as it should. Today, I will wash/clay the car, then apply two coats of Zaino to make the car look as spectacular as it should have looked upon delivery. Whatever happened to "dealer prep?"

Dealer prep? Or perhaps we should say, "The lack thereof". Being somewhat of an extreme car nut, I have purchased 8 new cars for myself in the past 10 years. There was a time when a new car was delivered by the dealership with the latest wax job showing the exterior paint in the best condition it would ever be in. Unfortunately, that seems to be a bygone era. Last year I accompanied a good friend as he sought out a new TL. Fortunately, after about 2 hours, he struck a great deal at the dealership. I watched with amusment as the car he purchased, was backed out of the dealer's storage lot (covered with dust and all the trappings of shipping), run through the dealer's automatic carwash, and presented for delivery less than 20 minutes after the process began. When I asked about "dealer prep" I was told that the dealer was told that all the "prep" is now done at the factory, and all that's left for the dealership to do was to wash it and take all the plastic off. Moral? So long dealer prep. Sceptic that I am, after taking delivery of my RL 6 weeks ago, I ordered some Klasse AIO and SG and I'll be doing my own "prep" this upcoming weekend.

I did the whole Dawn detergent wash/clay/wash again/Zaino 5/Zaino 2 x2 and Zaino 8 today, applied Aquapel to the front windshield, cleaned the haze off the interior windows but I still can't get the remnants of Acura's protective coating off. Is isopropyl alcohol the right thing to use? Clay doesn't remove it. I can pick it off with my fingernails to some extent, but that's not too good for the finish

I'm in too much pain to mess more with the car today (my shoulders are killing me), but in any event, the car looks as it should have when I bought it. I find myself going much faster than I should...
