The good thing about the TL's net system is that you can trap stuff over on the side, in that otherwise unusued little space that's too small for suitcases, etc.
Those big nets that stretch across the rear part of the trunk opening don't really thrill me, since they always seem to be in the way, so I'd probably pass on that (and my TL's big net is still in the spare wheelwell). The RL's hook arrangement doesn't really support a net in the sidespace area. In fact, it looks like it would best be used to trap stuff flat on the trunk floor.
I may look into anchoring some lightweight generic hooks to the innner liner somewhere. If it works, I'll pass it along.

4000 mile trip? wow...
This is about the best car to do it in though.
I recently drove 1500 miles home after buying an Elise. 1500 miles in that little go cart made my RL feel like a Maybach.
On the TL tangent, the biggest problem with the TL IMO is the HORRID leather. It wears horribly... wrinkles, etc. The Lexus leather is 100x nicer and so is the RL's.

And yeah, I must admit the TL's leather is pretty plasticky. I've already found a little 1/4" split in the driver's seat cushion where it has torn at one of the perforation holes. And it's only 2 months old! I'll report it when I get the oil changed.
BTW, someone asked me to post the build date of my RL ... it's 6/06.

What Dealer Did you Buy from
I am in the DFW area and am looking to get a new RL. Sounds like you got a good deal, and a tax credit. Not sure if I am able to ask the dealer and what your lease payment turned out like. I have spoken to one dealer in NRH and have been offered a tax credit and 41,400 on an 06 non-tech. That is the good part, the bad part is they 900 a month for 36 months 15k and 839 a month for 48 months 15k. Credit score is 810 and I told them they have lost there mind, $900 a month for a 41,000 dollar car. I know the residuals aren't great but that is horrible.
