Passed on 05 RL today - $33.8 I couldn't committ
A certified 05 white/tan 24k, asking $33,800. It has wood wheel and shifter too. White/tan is not my 1st or even 2nd color choice, but it's a good price. I'd need to sell my 03 CLS first.
I've seen quite a few good deals on used RLs but I think I'm gonna wait it out some more. Rep said it was $41k a week ago, seems they can't give it away, hmm.

The dealer's talking straight about one thing, that IS a good price for a low mileage '05 (Certified pre-owned). $33k is about the wholesale price on that car.
If you change your mind and consider that one again, get the VIN and run a carfax report before doing anything. I'm betting it's been wacked in it's lifetime. If it was damaged at one point then the title report will show it. On the other hand, if it's a clean title and the car drives straight then you should post where you found that deal (if you don't want it). That one seems like a deal for someone in the market for a low mileage '05 with a dealer warranty.

I guess it's all about supply and demand for your area. Sab could be right for his location, I don't know. However, if you could get that car for $28k with a CPO extended warranty, etc., I'd suggest immediately turning around and selling it to CarMax because you'd make a quick few thousand dollar profit for 15 minutes worth of work. Better yet, sell it on EBay "as is" for about $35-36 and make a very very good $8k profit for a weeks worth of work.
That car is NOT overpriced. It's a very good deal at $33k CPO from a dealer. In fact now that I think about it, this car must have a clean title, as well as good rubber, extended warranty, etc. If not they couldn't get it listed by Acura as a CPO vehicle. There are strict rules for that label. Again, very very good deal.

Agree. Awesome price. I can't believe that this was actually being offered for $41k initially, though.

Seems like we are taking a big hit in depreciation. I bought my car 18 months ago for $41.8K , to think it depreciated about $12k in that time is disturbing. I am actually slightly upside down. Good thing I really like this car and plan to keep it.

It's true, the RL's seem to have depreciated a bit more then average over the last couple hears -- at least on paper. Not necesarily due to slow dealer sales or customer interest, but, more related to dealer incentives. If you didn't get one of these agressive incentives on the front end then you could be a few thousand dollars behind the game.
Regardless, keep the car 5-6 years and all cars are worth around the same 25%. Important things to do to ensure you don't get burned on resale is;
a) minimize accessories (you never really get that back in resale)
b) work an agressive deal up front (don't pay more then the average street deal)
c) keep the car at least 4 years.
If you plotted depreciation on a graph it would look like a ski slope. Steep in the beginning and then slowly tapering off as you approached the bottom of the hill. Don't let this first 18 months worth of depreciation scare you. It won't keep dropping like that.

That's why I would never buy a new Acura.
I looked at it early Sat afternoon, I drove by there today (Sun) and don't see it. It's window was marked $41k then $39k I think, but recently online they dropped it to $33,8k. That's why I went by yesterday to take another look, seems like someone else took more than a look. It was certified, had a clean carfax report, wood steering, and wood shifter. A few rock chips that had been touched up.
I looked at a grey 06 RL recently at an Audi dealer, they were asking like $36k. It sold after I looked at it.
I love the RL features, I just can't commit to a 4door, I've never had one before. It's a little frumpy but I love the interior, tech and safety features a lot, and also the exclusivity of it.
