P0970 Code Info
I thought I may be able to help someone out with my recent experience with P0970 code on my 2008 Acura RL. I could not find much info about it for the RL so here's my experience.
Out of the blue on Saturday morning my car lit up light a Christmas tree including P0970 code, check engine light, check transmission, VSA etc. I researched P0970 and found the P0970 is a problem in A / T Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve C Circuit. Note this is different than P0971 which is a problem in A / T Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Valve C.
P0970 seems to be related to wiring so I started to snoop around in the general direction of the C Solenoid valve and found it under the air intake / cleaner housing. I had a cut in the loom and a wire severed where it was bent at 90 degrees. I had enough wire to attempt to mend it.
In order to mend the wire I removed the air intake / cleaner housing accessing the wiring. I unplugged the connector and soldered the wires together then used heat shrink and tape over them. I started the car, cleared all the codes, disconnected the negative battery and reassembled/installed what I removed. Once complete, I started the car and it worked like a charm.
After looking at the images I did a terrible job on the tape but there is heat shrink underneath.
Hope it helps someone out.

It's super crappy when manufacturers just have bare wire poking out of a connector with zero strain-relief of any kind. There's no protection except the thin insulation on the wire itself, because that rubber boot thing often isn't actually attached to the connector.
I used to run an old SAAB and had the same issue a couple of times.
