Smile Noise from Transmission??

Hey Guys, I'm new to AZ community , just purchased my 2006 RL with 100K miles on it and the car is a beauty. Love the car great drive great feel. I've done all the necessary maintenance to the car... full tuneup, changed the water pump and belts, new air filter and cabin filter, oil change, transmission flush, new brakes and rotors... You get the point..... I've checked the entire body of the car and underbody from A-Z and I can't figure out what this noise I'm hearing when I'm in reverse I her a CLUNKING SOUND when backing into a spot or just backing up and hitting the break... Car drives great and nothing is loose from what I can see any ideas or thoughts? Anyone else have this experience before?? I really hope its not the transmission, Car drives perfect and shits flawlessly so I'm really clueless here...

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Does it only clunk once? My 05 clunks one time just about every time I reverse out of my garage. I complained once at the dealer and they said it was my brake pads shifting in the calipers and that it was normal.

I was going to guess brakes could be the cause of the sound ...

no prob then?

I hear the same "clunking" noise when I put it on reverse. I was thinking of taking it to the dealership. But are you saying this is normal? How come that sound was NOT there when the car was new? I can't say for certain when it started but I know it was not there before.

Anyone else know about this clunking noise on reverse?

Thanks!
