Noise coming from what seems to be a bottom part of engine

Hello everybody,

this is my first post here, so I hope we will be able to share some valuable information to each other

My baby is 2004 LEGEND KB1 imported from Japan, not actual RL but I think there is no big difference between those to.

I have just noticed my car is making some really non-pleasing noise when the car is just starting to drive in D, or in R from standstill. The noise comes when revving the engine slowly up to, say 2-2.5K, if I try to rev a bit more aggressively, the noise can not be heard but I guess it is just air intake "overpowering" that noise. There is surely no noise when the car is in P or N, so that makes me wonder if the noise really comes from the engine. I have made a sound recording Vocaroo | Voice message. During first 20 seconds the gearbox is in P/N, after that I switched to R with brake engaged as I had no room to drive in my front year. The noise seems pretty bad, I think you can hear it is some kind of clunking noise. Have you ever had a problem like this? I would really appreciate even some kind of tips to know where would I start digging first, or maybe someone even has had a problem like this fixed?

Checked it about a fortnight ago, it looked normal no burnt smell and the color seemed to be OK. I will have a look at it again, thanks.

Check your motor mounts first.

Check the rubber ring hasn't fallen out of the harmonic damper on the crank pulley and is rubbing its way through your timing belt casing.

That's a standard Honda thing, if it's been pulled off the crank to change the belts.

even if it were a TSB, if you're out of warranty, you would have to pay to get them to apply a TSB.

so, if your crank pulley is rotted. simply buy a new one and install it!

and since you're taking off the old pulley, might as well do the 105k and water pump service while you're at it.

TSB- Technical Service Bulletin ( not required to apply)
Recall- MANDATED to apply
