New Valentine 1 and loose lighter adapter

I feel kind of silly asking about this, but it irks me everytime I get into the car. I've had a V1 for 10 years hard wired into my high mileage Honda. So, I order a new one for the RL, and am using the lighter adapter until I have time to hard wire into the RL. The new lighter adapter is loose in the RL's lighter socket! Also, it doesn't go in enough to completely cover up the little yellow pads! Not exactly a great confidence builder when throttling down the road! The adapter for my old V1 is really secure in that socket. Anyone else having this problem, or do I have some kind of one off? When I called Valentine, I got nothing. I just noticed on the Escort site that they sell an inexpensive adapter for certain European cars...does the RL need one of those?

I didn't have this problem for the SHORT (2 days) that I used the V1 without the hardwire.... So my guess is that it's just your lighter adapter?
