New Kid on the Block
Hi all,
I've been lurking for a few weeks here and finaly logged on. Great site and well moderated.
I picked up my first Acura in October and am enjoying this thing so much I feel guilty for ignoring the love of my life, my 2002 BMW R1150RT bike.
I was out looking for a BMW 5 series with my son for approx 8 weeks and couldn't bring myself to spend the $$$ for it. My son worked at Acura a few years ago and suggested I take a look a RL. I was hooked when I "got on it" on the entrance ramp to the freeway. It was smooth, had a great sound system and had loads of bells-n-whistles. The fit and finish is fantastic and the beautiful charcoal exterier IMHO is the fastest color Acura makes
I've added hand painted pin stripes, a rear deck spoiler, mud gaurds, wood shifter knob and am looking to have a rear camera installed as well as the clear bra/paint protector.
I'm looking forward to miles of smiles with this car as well as getting to know some of you.
Take care,
Joe

Hey, another NE Ohioan, we are so few on this board . Welcome to Acurazine! Hopefully, we won't get a chance to REALLY test SH-AWD anytime soon.
Where'd you buy? Was it 2006 or 2007?
Don't forget pics in the Photo Gallery.

Hello Bob,
I got the RL from Park Acura in Green. Just a few miles from the Akron Canton Airport.
It's a 2006 They list the color as Carbon Grey Pearl with Toupe on the inside but, to keep my guy card from being revoked I have to call it charcoal
I just got the avitar working and as soon as I get a chance to clean 'er down again I'll take some shots showing the pin stripping.
You must be on the west side of cleveland to not have tested the SH-AWD. So far we've only had a dusting of snow down here and thats fine with me.

Welcome to the fold, Joe. And as you can see by my sig line, I also have the Carbon Grey w/Taupe. Best color combo out there, and you're right - it adds probably 10mph to the top speed of the car.
And BTW - the guys at acurazine's square table have ruled it is okay to say "Carbon Grey Pearl" (although most abbreviate it to "CGP"), so your guy card is safe.
Congratulations!

I've got to agree...CGP is the most attractive exterior color to me and I also have the tan interior. I didn't think it would work as well as the black interior, but it really does...and I think a guy card is more in danger if you like saying "ebony" and "taupe".
That being said, I am totally there with you, RL RT Joe, on the BMW thing. I had a pretty good deal on an '05 BMW M3 convertible with 11K miles, but couldn't bring myself to actually pay more for that car than for the new RL. The BMW, which is supposedly the Ultimate Driving Machine, felt uninspired, cheap, and plasticky for $44K. For $2K less, I got a new RL which feels 100% more refined with a ton of bells/whistles (okay, so mainly the NAV/stereo stuff that the M3 lacked, but that's a big deal).
I'm glad I stopped by the Acura dealer before the check was cut on the other car!

Thanks for the welcome.
I just talked to the service dept to install a backup camera. I know some of you have got a better price but for my time I'm willing to have it done for $710.
After that maybe a clear bra
Thanks again,
Joe

If you're interested in having a mobile installer do your clear bra (when you get to it), I can refer you to the guy who's done two of my cars. PM me when you're interested.

RL RT I picked up my RL in October just like you and I also ride a 2002 BMW R1150RT which I enjoy immensly. It seems we both share excellent taste in vehicles. My RL is Celestial Silver/Ebony, however. What color is your RT? Mine's red. Good to have a fellow rider on the forum. I must say that since I got the RL I am not so quick to want to ride the bike. The RL is just so sweet to drive.

km , Thanks for popping in! The RT is an awesome bike as you know. I got hooked on it in '04 when I sighned on to a Edelweiss Bike Tour of the Alps. I came back and kicked my cruiser to the street and promptly sold it.
Good to hear there is another out there that has fine taste in bikes and cages

I bought a 2002 RT with 2,000 miles on it in 2004 (2,000 miles in 2 years and 2 owners previous to me) I put 13,000 miles on it the first year I had it.
BTW ...... color ...... RED
You can catch me on BMWST (dot) com as Machine Joe

I haven't even thought about putting snows on yet because the weather has been otherwise so good. Hopefully it stays that way.
Nice to have another member from this area.

Well, out there in the Snow Belt, you DO need SH-AWD...and snow tires. Which is one reason I don't live there. Gorgeous the rest of the year, treacherous in the winter.
