What Brand of oil, weight, and filter for 2007 RL. When should I do first oil change and would like to go synthetic.

The manual states that it is important to keep the break in oil UNTIL the system tells you to change it. Then run whatever you want at 5-20w per manual.

I called Acura about all of this and they say do not deviate.

OK when I went to install my lip spoiler and the backup cam, the service tech told me that I only need to check the oil meter until the percentage drop till 10-15% then change the oil. I asked about adding synthetic oil (Mobil 1 is the best) and was told that the car does not know that you are adding a synthetic
oil to the motor so the that percentage meter will run the same way with or without the synthetic oil. But I'm still thinking of adding Mobil 1 with my first oil change. I only still have 285 miles on my car so I still have a lot of time until I do that oil change. But do you guys think we still have to go the dealer to do the oil change or can do at local garage?

This has been debated.
I strongly recommend the dealer, they help in many ways,, TSB's. better oil filters, and they will stand behind their work, and much more. Many smaller places will be a problem collecting if they leave the oil plug loose and you destroy your engine, for example.
Some love other shops over a dealer, not me.

If you are changing the oil yourself is one thing. If a Acura dealer is doing it another. Going to Quick Lube shop is even another. In my opinion it is waste of time and $$$ to go quicky lubes. Most of them don't do a good job or complete job.Their filters are cheap at best. They work at getting as many car through their establishment as possible. I personally use synthectic oil in all my cars and bikes, except the 1962 Chevrolet. One car even came from factory with Mobil 1. I always use what I consider a good filter K&N oil filters. My local Acura dealer even carrys Mobil 1. The problem with them is getting them to put the expensive oil in the car, even when you pay for it.....I personally use Mobil 1 or Amsoil...One other note when you pull the drain plug there is a small aluminum washer that goes on the drain plug. That washer should be changed or flipped over at oil change time. ALWAYS use the called for oil weight.

My dealer automatically uses Mobile 1 Synthetic 5-20 in the
RL. They charge 59.99 with the oil so the price is right. I haven't had the oil changed yet because I have 3600 miles on the car and monitor shows 50% oil life left. Dealer also told me to wait till the monitor shows that I need to have the oil changed before changing.
