Need advice on buying a 2006 Acura RL
Hey everyone! I had a 2nd Gen CL in in the past, and now I am looking to buy a 06 RL with 257000kms . I have a 06 Saab 95 which is hard to give up but I think it's time for it to go. The RL has a couple cosmetic flaws like rear brake light is cracked, same with driver side fog lamp, scuff on rear bumper. Other then that the car drives good beside the fact that I notice the car kind of shimmes over bumps? Is this normal? How much should an RL like this sell for? Any input would be great.

suspension and motor mount knowing to goes bad in these car after 120k miles (suspension may not be bad and it might be the bushing itself)

Price for that car with your stated mileage would be in the $7k ballpark here in Florida. Salvage title cars are becoming more plentiful due to high cost of some of the repairs vs. the surprisingly low remaining residual value on these cars in general Salvage title cars often sell for under $4k here. From the sounds of it (asking about a car w/km's) I'm guessing you are in Canada, where I understand very few RLs were sold, In that case, you might be looking at higher pricing than most areas. Good luck! I'm on my 2nd second generation RL now and they are fantastic cars.

Higher mileage cars are selling for around that. There is one with the A-Spec package for sale for 9k with close to 300k kms. This silver one is being sold to me for under 4k so I am DYING To jump on it tomorrow morning and get rid of my Saab. Suspension seems good, can't tell about motor mounts but like I mentioned the car/wheel feels like the wheels are like shimming left and right on the road it's difficult to explain but it does the RL feel like that?

I would normally never get rid of my Saab but it's got pretty bad frame damage, key doesn't fully shut the car off so I have to turn the radio off every time, one vital hose to the engine is being held together by a wire coat hanger. I had plans to keep it and fix it up but I think with 270k kms I should but an end to my Saab story and get another Acura. I have until 11AM to make a decision, thanks again for any input.

Thanks,
None at all the dealership said they replaced the starter but I can't be so sure... My only issue is that the car feels like it shimmies on the road is this normal? It drives straight but over bumps sometimes it feels like the wheel shimmies left and right. is this normal ?

There is this one close to you but I would have to finance this one . It's hard to stay away even with the wheel shimmy .

It looks really good and has those mint wheels. I think I am going to drive my Saab for another month, live it up this weekend and have a steak breakfast and come back check back on those RLs since they have been sitting all winter, and I don't see them selling soon. Also sometimes they come up on kijiji for 2500 or so, so I'll hold for as long as my turbo does.

I'd inspect it. A major body hit could make it "shimmie"...
The Aspec teh CL posted looks good. bet you could negotiate.
Waiting is good. You could try to find an owner selling not a dealer, and one who took care of the car and kept history. You'd save yourself a tax too.

I guess my expectations of a “used” car are a little different than most. I wouldn’t let a little shimmy in the suspension bother me too much when looking at spending $9k Canadian for a 9 year old car that cost $50k+ when it was new. 100k miles is nothing on these cars. More than likely it’s just a matter of balancing the tires or something like that. Jus’ sayin.... My brother lives in Ontario and is in the market... if you don’t pull the trigger on this car it will be gone soon.

At that price, It almost stands to reason you might have to dump a grand or two into it to make it as reasonably "mechanically perfect" as possible, but when you consider the caliber of car you're getting for the money, that's not horrible. Usually, much of that kind of maintenance can be done via DIY or, depending on what issues are present one can usually take a structured approach to get to that point to make the whole project more financially palatable.
