My luck continues this summer...
 

As some of you may remember, earlier this summer the wind ripped off my bumper on the highway. $1000 later, I have a new bumper (minus the molding, still have to order that) and I am hoping no new surprises for the rest of the summer.

No such luck.

In the middle of the hottest summer in recent memory in Toronto, my A/C goes. Goddammit! I let it go for a few days because frankly I didn't have the time to take it into the shop and I was hoping it would miraculously fix itself (as we all do when something goes on our cars).

So I finally took it in when I had some free time and lo and behold, the compressor needed to be replaced. The mechanic actually said it seemed to be a clutch inside the compressor or something but either way, we decided to order the compressor itself and install it. Something that in searching the threads on this board seems to be a problem with Hondas? Ugh...

Anyways, I decided to get my scheduled maintenance done, brakes checked, replaced my D2S bulbs because I was getting an AFS alert, and the damage was $1700 for everything.

Unfortunately, the bulb replacement didn't work in removing the AFS alert which led the mechanic and I to think perhaps it was a ballast issue. He suggested I take it to the dealer which I called and they told me JUST TO RUN THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS $125!

I am not a happy camper. This is not the summer of George I was hoping for!

AFS has nothing to do with bulbs or ballast. It most likely has to do with the stroke sensor in the rear driver wheel well. There are a couple of good threads on the topic with documentation and fixes.

Thanks, just did a search and found many similar stories. I am going to have a look at this to see if this is the problem, which sounds like a good possibility. Thanks again!
