Maintenance Schedule Question

I recently purchased a 2006 RL w/82000 miles on it in NH, and the dealership had no record of maint. done to the vehicle. They were going to have the original dealer send them up to me, but I haven't received them yet.

Well today, I just happened to check the secret compartment in the glove box and found the owners manual, nav manual, codes and low and behold the maint journal.

It appears mostly everything was done, but I wanted to ask the pros on here if anything is missed, or past due.

Here is the maint. records based off of mileage.

7537
Replace Engine Oil
Rotate Tires

14939
Replace Engine Oil and Oil Filter
Check Brakes, Tie Rods, Steering Gear Box, Suspension, Boots, Hoses, Exhaust, Fluid Levels and Condition, Fuel Lines
Replace Rear Diff Fluid

23000
Replace Engine Oil and Oil Filter
Check Brakes, Tie Rods, Steering Gear Box, Suspension, Boots, Hoses, Exhaust, Fluid Levels and Condition, Fuel Lines
Rotate Tires

31649
Replace Engine Oil and Oil Filter
Check Brakes, Tie Rods, Steering Gear Box, Suspension, Boots, Hoses, Exhaust, Fluid Levels and Condition, Fuel Lines
Rotate Tires
Replace Air Cleaner Element, Dust and Pollen Filter and Check Drive Belt

38850
Replace Engine Oil
Rotate Tires

46276
Replace Engine Oil and Oil Filter
Check Brakes, Tie Rods, Steering Gear Box, Suspension, Boots, Hoses, Exhaust, Fluid Levels and Condition, Fuel Lines
Rotate Tires
Replace Rear Diff Fluid

56578
Replace Engine Oil
Rotate Tires

61495
Replace Engine Oil and Oil Filter
Check Brakes, Tie Rods, Steering Gear Box, Suspension, Boots, Hoses, Exhaust, Fluid Levels and Condition, Fuel Lines
Rotate Tires
Replace Air Cleaner Element, Dust and Pollen Filter and Check Drive Belt
Replace Tranny\Transfer Fluid
Replace Brake Fluid
Cleaned Fuel System

69196
Replace Engine Oil
Rotate Tires

79954
Replace Engine Oil and Oil Filter
Check Brakes, Tie Rods, Steering Gear Box, Suspension, Boots, Hoses, Exhaust, Fluid Levels and Condition, Fuel Lines
Rotate Tires
Replace Rear Diff Fluid

82000
Replace Engine Oil and Oil Filter
New Tires, Brakes, Rotors and Battery

I guess my question is, is it normal to have 8000 mile gaps in service for oil changes (using Synthetic) or maybe some services were missed?

Should the Engine Coolant have been done by now? It is not listed anywhere in the journal.
Also, what is recommended for tranny\transfer case changes?

I know, I know, RTFM, but it is a bit cryptic in the way it is written. :noob:

actually it looks like 8k mile increments...the previous owner followed the MID it appears...and most of the miles were hwy.

A1
B6
A1
B12
A1
B16
A1
B123 (brake fluid is age related)
A1
B16
A and any maintanenance necessary to sell the car by the dealer.

the letters above denote your mainatenance minder (MID) codes, for each of the above respective service intervals (your welcome-there is nothing cryptic about it if you read the little book, lol ). yes RTFM.

it appears your car was well taken car of. your car will not know whether synthetic oil was used or not and does not reflect why the mileage intervals were ~8k mi apart. most likely the car was hwy driven. it is NOT uncommon for this type of mileage on mostly hwy.

if you drive mostly city or mix...it'll be 4-6k mi between intervals.

I figured I'd take some tomatoes for this post , but appreciate your feedback.
I'm so used to doing all my maint in 5k intervals i thought I'd ask the experienced Acura/RL owners.

Hondas have been going 7-8k miles per service for quite a few years now.

That car sounds like it was very well taken care of!

You wouldn't gave gotten any if you hadn't mentioned it.

As for the coolant, that is not a concern IMHO. Do it when you do the water pump and timing belt. Just make sure it is full for now.

oh one last thing....FOLLOW YOUR MID. it will tell you when the TB is due (denoted by a 4), and the coolant (denoted by a 5).

brake fluid every 3 and power steering whenver (if) it gets dirty or if your steering doesn't feel right.

nothing but regular maintenance until the major which you have about 25k mi to wait (TB).

other hints: DIY your filters (the dealer will charge you an arm and half a leg to do it), "A" service ($120), ask for an oil change ($45 regular dino $70 for synthetic, or bring your own oil and filter $25)....check for service coupons on your dealer website (a few bucks is a few bucks, it all adds up)...

I keep forgetting about the MID!
My previous cars were not this smart...

Thanks again!
