Congrats on a great choice! Even though I am staying put with the RL for a while, I keep up with the Audi lineups from year to year. The gas guzzling S4 v8's were always a bone of contention with owners getting 14mpg, so Audi went back to a supercharged V6 that gets the best MPG in its class. Zero to 60 in under 5 sec's isn't hard to take either.

I rarely visit car talk, so I hope you post pictures here first when your car is delivered. Good luck!

333hp...same as the Genesis 3.8, fuel economy comparable if you ding a little for AWD, safety ratings, 3 stars on the drivers side, seriously?

I hope everything else is nothing but positives but that raises a bright red flag in my book. Don't crash and all is well!

Overall, I wish I had one
Man, you are so in love with Hyundai, if I would have picked anything else, you would have questioned my purchase. It's really easy, I AM NOT A HYUNDAI FAN ! ! ! ! Ok? Alright, now that we have that straight, I never considered the Genesis because I fell in love with the design of the S4, its absolutely bad ass. It is fun to drive the interior is gorgeous, there is nothing about it I don't like. I was tempted to get the A6 or even the S6, but wanted to get a car that was a bit more compact, so that is why it ended being the S4 model. I know you of all people can appreciate a nice car when you see one ( that was a compliment btw ), so I think even you would enjoy the drive. As for the safety ratings you posted, that was for the 2011 and I believe they will be different on the 2012, guess we will see. Hope you are enjoying your ride, I will try to enjoy mine, once it is delivered.

I have been educating myself about Audi for the past few months and this is what I learned. If you are going to get get an Audi and you don't intend to keep it past the warrant, which I don't, then you will love Audi, it is the best thing out there. Best bang for your buck, if you will. If you plan to keep the car until the warranty runs out and it get up into the high miles, then you are an idiot, be prepared to dish out some cash for repairs. I will keep this car for three yrs, maybe four and I will be on my way to my next ride, it is just that easy.

Noted, I will let you know when I post my pics and try and get some in here as well. I forgot you came from Audi yourself, did you love your S4 ? Hopefully in three years Acura will have come back with something I would like to own. Acura I hope you are reading this !

no worries, I'm not trying to sell you anything here, if I had the extra cash lying around I'd get me an S8 as I'm more into big cars for family reasons and all.

But yea, I hope they do improve safety. Besides the price and german reliability issues, safety is another reason why I haven't really seriously considered them.

I can't say I don't like Audi design or their performance cause I do, so don't think I ain't a lil jealous. I'm just pointing little things out.

No offense, it's a great car, but nothing is perfect.

Took me a month to figure out how to use my phone bluetooth in the Genny and it wasn't even the cars fault even though I blamed it for a month before I powered down my phone and then back on to fix the issue

so yes, do enjoy your ride and I do hope you got the extra rear side air bags...safety is #1 for a family person

may I recommend a laser jammer? or is that not common where you are?

New Jersey and New York are seriously ramping up. I got hit twice with Laser in NJ within a month of installing it on new car.

www.escortradar.com and look into ZR4. Professional install is recommended but if you can pull wires your self, it's not rocket science.

If you have an old detector or can buy cheaply an old detector you can get $40 to $80 rebate back if you send that in.

Mine was under $600 installed before rebate since my mechanic installed sooo many of them for me. well...not that many but on every single car since 2006

Nice choice in the S4! Should be fun to drive. Unlike the former Acura owners in Car Talk who are moving primarily to Mazda and BMW, RL owners are starting to gravitate toward Audi and the 4G TL. Interesting....

Yes i did. I had 2000 MY with a six cylinder and twin turbo's. The car was a blast to drive and super fast. The down side was I bought the car used and close to the warranty expiration date. I ended up dropping too much in repairs. My fault, bad planning.

My next car will probably be another Audi (S)??. This time I am buying new and will probably sell near the warranty expiration date. I still have plenty of time to shop around.

I really tried to stay with Acura, but the only thing that interested me was the ZDX right now and they are extremely limited in my area. I was open to traveling, as long as it was within the Northwest ( Washington, Oregon, Idaho or even Montana ) but no one had what I wanted, or for some reason they thought they could get more for it then what it was worth. So I ended up with a S4 and I think I will love it! I have noticed a lot of RL owners going to Audi too, maybe Acura will read some of this and finally start to do something about it.

After doing my research about Audi for the last few months, I think buying new with a full warranty is an extremely smart idea. From what I have gathered, most Audi's take a turn once the warranty expires and a lot of them become somewhat of a money pit. Does Audi offer an extended warranty ? I never hear anything about that, but my guess would be, if they do, it isn't as good of a deal as Honda/Acura's is.

it's only worth it if cops in your area use laser guns. If they don't then you definitely don't need it. I got mine after 2 laser tickets and detector prior to that after 2 radar tickets

I honestly don't know, but I am pretty sure we have radar and laser in our area. I haven't had a ticket in over 15 years ( knock on wood )

Do you ever see a cop car/motorcycle parked on the shoulder peeping though a "gun" sometimes with a line of cops up the road? If so, you have laser in the area. The key to laser is the user must be stopped compared to radar where the user can be moving. Lasers are almost only found in cities, and 80% or something are used by motocops. Austin has been building it's stockpile of LIDAR. Some cities cannot afford to buy them though.

A little short on funding maybe? Not sure what part of the West Coast you are in, but if you can get enough people to get the red light cams on a ballot you can vote for/against their use. Something along the lines of giving people tickets without their knowledge is unconstitutional or something. That's why the 5-0 make you sign their tickets when they give them to ya.

I live in the Seattle area and they put this stuff on the ballots all the time, but the cities keep trying. My tomtom that I use at work actually tells me where the red light and speed flashers are at, so I have been lucky so far.

I have looked around, but no I do not. Glad you are loving the A7, they are selling really fast, the dealers can't keep them on their lots.

A little update on my new car, just thought I would share. I picked the car I wanted and thought I was getting it this week, but somehow it was not meant to be. Not to get into it to much, it was just not meant to be. After being a bit upset, but eventually moving on, I decided to order the S4 to the exact specs I wanted. The build was recently put in and should be getting started soon. Like I have said a few times before, there is no rush, which is a good thing. One thing that came from this is I called a few differnt dealers and ended up getting the car at $500 over invoice, which is unheard of when it comes to most Audi's, since they are in such high demand. I will let you guys know when I get more news.

UPDATE: I promised a few that I would post over here once I had some new info, since most of you don't venture over into the Car Talk Section. I have now been without a car for over six months, the longest I have gone in my entire adult life. I ended up ordering my S4 from the factory, so I could get all the options and specifics I wanted. The car has taken four months to get here, but has arrived at the Houston Port and is on its way to Seattle. I have an appointment to meet with my Sales person tomorrow to go over the finances, so we can get that out of the way.The past four months have been everything but fun, ended up having issues with the dealership and their willingness to communicate, but we got that worked out as well. I hope to have the car in my possession in a few weeks at the most.

Yeah you're right, the new S4's should roll out around July or August, but I got a really good deal on the car, so I am cool with it. Look on the bright side, at least its not a Hyundai.

Luckily it's not an Audi.

I'm quite happy with the car. Seems like it's a good bit cheaper than yours, plus 3 star crash test for the driver side? no thanks.

Genny is making the same HP while eating less gas while being a much larger car...definitely can't hurt.

Just noticed the car weigh the same while mine has 19cuft more space overall...I guess AWD makes up the weight.

Either way, you got an Audi so that's always a plus

http://www.cars.com/go/compare/trimC...,USC20HYC111A0

I mean...who would seriously compare an Audi to Hyundai eh.

Install a laser jammer, a nice detector and fire away.
