looking at an 06 Tech Package
Should I seriously consider an 06 with the Tech Package? In particular I am concerned about the tires. $3k TO replace them with new PAX tires/wheels? wow! What are my options for converting to std tires when I need new ones? Do I need new wheels also? What should I pay for a set of new tires (conventional) and wheels. Should I be expected to pay a premium for the Tech Package? Assuming I convert, is there anything else on the car that needs to be changed? Suspension differences?

forget those pax, you're better off going with a set of a-specs with runflats if you want or just go with conventional tires. Michelin pilot sport A/S. plus you'll get better gas mileage and performance.

use the search to find the stories on the PAX. They should last you a good 40K miles.
Then you should consider purchasing new wheels and tires as noted above. For the 2.1K I have been quoted to replace the tires only, you could get a set of 18 inch wheels and tires. A-Specs are selling, with TPMS for about $1400 on ebay from dealers.
Tire Rack has some interesting wheels like the enkei SC-05's which are about $250 each. You still have to buy the TPMS, but that is about $140. Tire Rack will give you a whole package, including tires. I have been dealing with them for years.
The CMBS/ACC is a worthwhile feature, so if you can get enough of a discount on the entire car, and know that you have to replace your wheels and tires, you can make an informed decision.
