Latest PM Done Timing Belt etc

Ok being extremely risk adverse I decided to change timing belt, water pump, slap on new Ralco crank pulley swapped out auto tensioner, adjuster, pulley, thermostat and serpentine belt and side motor mount at 83k miles. All removed parts I had them save and there was NO issue whatsoever with any part both in the removal or in the condition so I could have waited BUT like I said risk adverse.

Had the work done at Anderson Honda and folks I cant say enough positive about these guys. They are out of my way but worth it completely. I have had the opportunity to visit many dealer service facilities these guys are BY FAR the most professional, courteous, helpful, and customer centric I have EVER experienced. The tech was so happy to work on an RL he couldnt stop talking about them and the TL of the same vintage. I even saw him wipe down with detailer the front quarters since I didnt want it washed.

Im bringing my Type S in a couple weeks when schedule permits for the timing belt too and thermostat.

Well thats it nothing huge just wanted to provide an update and a plug for an excellent service experience, dont hear much about those much anymore.

Actually I paid very particular attention on drive up so I could compare post install on drive home as I dont normally "feel" the difference like this.

I have to admit it did seem there was more "pull" if that makes sense. The tech was apprehensive on the install being concerned there might be vibration issues but he was also surprised as he did a test drive upon completion.

So I'd have to say Im happy with the change but I also set my expectations low and folks shouldnt expect a drastic change but noticeable IMHO.

Gents, whats the schedule for thermostat change? i have 118, i got water pump and belt done at 92k but not thermostat. I had the intake off last year (made a DIY) but thermostat did not cross my mind. I hate thermostats, freaking 20 dollar part that will leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere.

did anybody experienced a thermostat failure on our RL's?

My logic is more rule of thumb if im replacing the coolant then I replace the thermostat and since I am baselining this car and couldnt find a record of it being done recently in the service records I opted to do it.

I cant speak to failures as I hope not to get to that point as like you said its cheap part to swap.

My '95 Legend made it 15 years and past 175k miles before the thermostat started to stick. If you're replacing coolant or hoses, I agree with 08KPB; go ahead and change it. Otherwise, just keep an eye on your temp gauge as the car warms up. If it rises steadily to 40-50% and the stops, you should be good.
