Known issues or repairs on the RL?

Purchased my RL used and there are no major service records with the car so I assume nothing major has been done to it.

It is an 06 with 150,000 miles.

What are the known mechanical faults or repairs needed on this car?
I have read the Timing belt is a major issue.
Any other things mechanical?

Mine has the ripped seats, bubbling center console, glovebox, flaking chrome, etc...
Since it has all the visible common problems I would like to get the mechanical things sorted before they fail.

To date the only mechanical issue I have had is the alternator went out.
What else should I knock out this spring?

If your timing belt has not been done or you cannot confirm it has been done, you need to get on that stat at 150k miles. The engine is an interference engine, and a failure will render it useless. Water pump and tensioner pulley should be replaced at the same time.

Transmission, transfer case, and both differential chamber fluids should be changed every 30-45k miles. If you wait that long for the transmission, a 3x3 drain and fill is recommended. Otherwise, you can just change the transmission fluid every other oil change. If you do these regularly, your drivetrain will be fine.

Aside from regular wear items the only thing I can think of is the "melting" glove box. Basically, the glue and the cover material react to result in a glove box with a melting fascia.

I noticed my motor mounts were deteriorated but they don't appear to be that bad.

Timing belt sounds like the first thing to do.

What is a 3X3 drain?

Is this everything I need for the timing belt swap?

I searched around on this forum a bit and heard not to go with Rock Auto. I want to use all genuine Honda parts if possible.

Is this a good kit? Is everything I need in this kit? Is there a better kit than this I should buy?

There's no tensioner.

Can't go wrong with OEM

Not the pulley, the actual auto tensioner itself.

Unless I'm blind..

I don't know what a tensioner is.

You are likely right. Description only mentions the pulley.

Where it shows "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought", it shows an OEM tensioner.

Of course I'm right..

There's possibly one item, the one in this link
Amazon.com: Aisin TKH-002 Engine Timing Belt Kit with Water Pump: Automotive Amazon.com: Aisin TKH-002 Engine Timing Belt Kit with Water Pump: Automotive
that looks like a cylindrical hand grenade with a clip. (enter your year model into amazon to verify if this fits your year).

This kit i linked you tho does not include the serpentine belt which is often done separately.

p.s. if you fall on a 'Gates' kit, don't buy it. The water pump is chinese junk as opposite to the aisin pump which is the supplier for Honda/Acura oem pumps.

GL.

The OEM pump in your Honda OEM kit you posted, is the same: Aisin.

He's saying Aisin is good. That's why Honda uses them.

I'm saying Aisin is the Honda OEM pump.

Now if Honda uses good pumps or not, I still have to discover it. Hope it's not as good as their door handles.

I've never heard of water pump failure on a Honda that wasn't neglected.
