Keyless Access - i know i know

So I have talked about this before and have read everyone else's issues. I changed my AFS sensor and that issue is gone. I am still in awe as to what is going on with the door handle proximity though.

1) FOB's work perfectly fine.
2) Check Keyless Acceess System light/message on.
3) Door handles do NOT lock or unlock on eith driver / passenger side.
4) When I touch the proximity "button / raised portion fo handle" - the Keyless light appears on the dash, flashes then goes off.

#4 - raises my eyebrow as to me, it is telling me it senses my touching of the sensor but fails to lock and unlock the doors. *mind blown*

Is there maybe another issue?

Thanks again guys for always responding - even if it is repetative questions/information.

Graeme

Yeah most likely the Keyless Access Control Unit is defective. Especially if the car starts without having to use the physical key and door locks work properly with the fob buttons.

Is the module the door handle itself or located under a kick panel, dash, hood etc...

Thanks guys.

It's up under the driver side of the dash.

There should be a code associated with the fault light. Did you check the message center?

I just have the annoying "Check Keyless Access System" - are there codes behind this message if an OBDII scanner is plugged in?

Thanks guys!

You should be able to pull the codes from the nav screen. A generic OBDII scanner will not show Acura specific codes IIUC.

Press the "info" button, and select "messages". There should be diagnostic information stored there.

When I push "info" I get the screen with the options:
Trip Computer, Calendar, Calculator, Voice Command Help, Map Legend, Key to Zagat Ratings

Nothing about messages.

Only message I see is on the dash with the "check keyless access system under the spedometer.

The "map, cancel, menu" screen is of no help either.

Is there an envelope icon in the top right of your Nav screen?

My instructions were going off of the 2008 navigation manual. The messages are part of the AcuraLink system. If the icon is there, you have unread messages, but you should also have old stored messages too.

Maybe the screens changed over the years, but attached is where messages are shown in a KB2. I believe you need a HDS HIM tool can clear these once they get stored.

They are remotely close but yes, definitely different. I wish I had some of those options.

Thanks guys!

So I am STILL having the same issue.
No blown fuses, replaced the passenger door handle (it shorted)

I sit in the car, window down and car off - reach out the window and touch the door handle and the "Key" on the dash lights up but nothing locks/unlocks by using the handle.

It must be the keyless access module....thoughts?

The "key" lights up on the instrument cluster.
Unless you are referring to the previous thread regarding the comment for me to check the info screen. I wish I had that option.

If the dash icon is the key, you may need to have the fobs re-programmed. But since the fob operates the door locks via buttons, I agree it sounds like the keyless module may be at fault.

Are you sure it is not the fob low battery indicator you seeing? That is just a battery replacement in the fob (they last about 2 years before needing change)

Check pages 174-176 : http://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/p...u/JA0707OM.pdf

The two main components of the Keyless System are not cheap. The main unit is over $500US and the antenna unit is over $225US. Hopefully your issue is a reprogramming issue, which only the dealer can do.

Morning,

Thank you for the reply/information.
I just find it weird that when i touch the sensor on the door handle, that key light flashes (Almost like it picks up what I am trying to do but does nothing)
The FOB works fine, I have yet to replace the batteries and it still locks/unlocks.

Frustrating.
