Just purchased CPO with accident damage

Just purchased a CPO RL and didn't notice some underside damage at the time of sale. Now at home, I noticed one of the engine underside tray is missing and the other one is a bit torn up. No apparent frame damage, but it appears that it went off roading as there is some grass stuck up in in the nooks and crannies. There were some existing scratches on the bumpers that they offered to repair as a condition of the sale. I will request that they install the missing parts and replace the damaged under tray. Also, one of the headlights flickered for a few minutes after start up. My question is how did they miss this damage on the inspection and is covered with the CPO warranty?

The CPO inspection is a gimmick. Some dealers/techs will actually care and do the inspection right, but others will just half ass it to get a higher sale. The guarantee you get is that Acura has to back it's promise regardless of dealership negligence.

Read up on the inspection process (Acura's webpage). Go back to the dealer with a list of things that should have been caught or fixed. Politely request/demand that they are attended to. If you are I satisfied with their response, call Acura care.

If there is one thing we have learned here about Acura, it's that some dealers are terrible, but corporate has some of the best customer service around.

Grab a copy of the 150 point checklist. Find the item where the car clearly did not pass. Decide what you want accomplished. Go to the used car manager, and play lets make a deal. My CPO had poor body work done on the doors on one side. Per the checklist, car was not eligible to be CPO because of the bodywork. Got 2 brand new doors...

Thanks all, I looked again today and it appears that someone may have parked on top of a curb and caused the damage. It looks minor, but I will ask for a repair when I bring it in. I printed out the checklist and will read through it, but it looks like prior issues are excluded.

Either way, I am very impressed with the car and so far I am happy with the purchase.

On the headlights, if it is the HIDs' flickering, could be the first sign that the HIDs are near the end of their service life. See if the dealer acknowledges the flickering issue because getting a dealer to do HID replacement out of warranty is pretty $$$$. If they will not help with the HID's, many owners, myself included, have bought D2S HIDs online and gotten independent mechanics to replace them - saved lots of $$$$. Good luck !

So, I also purchased a CPO and when looking it over noticed a small dent on top of the right fender. I brought it to the attention of the sales associate who said they hadn't noticed it until then however, I didn't push it. (my fault) I thought they should have acted upon it once mentioned. (my fault again) In reading through all the repair orders received with the car there was an entry from the tech confirming the dent under the previous owner. Should this have been addressed during CPO process, do I have a legitimate claim for the dealer to accept its repair? 007s comment about CPO gimmick is valid, they may have automatically labeled CPO simply because it only had 24k miles. Your advice is welcomed and appreciated. Regards, Paul
