The joy of ECU reset!
Just wanted to say how impressed I am with how the ECU reset process. It brought all the up/down shift points to where I prefer them - sporty and responsive! I haven't had that much fun driving to work in a while! I guess over time my ECU starts to think I drive like a granny since I get in with so many slow moving commuter patterns every day.
I was flipping through the forums last night, curious about an odd tranny issue I've been experiencing recently. I would feel, through the gas pedal mostly, a vibration at around 1600 - 1900 RPM's. I know I'm due to change the fluid, just waiting for it be a fair amount warmer than the 15 degrees it's been in CT lately. So I see a few similar thread topics and some of them mention this reset process. I figured I would give it go this morning before I head in to work. I wasn't expecting much but wow! It's noticeable right away! All the shift points have reset and you can feel it every time you gas it. I'll give it a few more back and forth commutes, but it does seem to have adjusted that lower RPM gear selection and the vibration is less noticeable. Now I'm hoping a 3x3 will clear out that vibration all together.
I definitely recommend this ECU reset though, even on a regular basis. If you already drive aggressively often enough, you may not see a change. But I think if you're more of an occasional pedal masher, or you just get stuck in traffic like me, this may bring that more aggressive shift pattern back.
As noted in other threads:
1. Turn the ignition to the accessory on position (don't start the engine).
2. Press the gas pedal all the way down for at least 30 seconds. I did a full minute for good measure.
3. Lift off the gas pedal and turn the ignition off.
Start it up and get driving!
Other threads have noted disconnecting the battery for at least one minute achieves the same result. At 10 degrees this morning, I wasn't up to that if I didn't really need to :-)

I believe what you did is the "throttle relearn" or the "throttle reset" an ECU reset would have resulted in relearning the windows and re-entering the codes etc.
Glad you found the benefit.

Ah, OK. That's makes sense. Probably pure coincidence, I've been having issues with the CC unit where the Auto button basically doesn't do anything, and the fan's just wind down to a stop when I select it. After doing this reset I pressed the Auto button and it kicked in as I would expect it to when it's working properly. I had actually wondered if this reset did something to that too. Reset the interface or something. I still think the CC unit is not working 100%, but adjusting the temperature also resulted in the fan speed going up or down, and the location of the air movement changed too (defrost, feet, straight out). Hasn't done that in quite a while.
Are there any other handy reset tricks?
