But it turns out it was a Pontiac GXP something or other. Now I'm good with my cars, and it was from a distance, and yes I did have my contacts in, but a Pontiac!! Nobody should mistake a Pontiac for an Acura flagship, but if I can, anyone can. This is not flattering for Acura. It was a front view of course.

This morning I also saw what I thought was a new full size Saturn from a distance, it looked pretty good, turns out it was the new 09 TL. Amazingly on the same drive I saw from the rear what looked to be a new TL which turned out to be the Saturn Aura. Wow. Does anyone else think the new TL looks like a Camry on profile?? Acura has completely lost itself....

Actually I can see someone mistaking a Pontiac for Acura's new styling camp. Both are overdone, unsophisticated and juvenile.

Unfortunately not. My UglyBlockers typically include my current corrective lens, diluted with multiple cocktails, so I wouldn't have been driving at that point. Based on what I've seen lately from Pontiac and Saturn(especially) I wonder if someone from their camp was hired by Acura.

That's interesting..when I saw the new 09 TSX on the opposite side of the road, I thought it was a saturn too, but it was only then when it got closer that I noticed it was the TSX.

The TSX is the only Acura with the new grille that I like. That actually looks good. I still can't stomach the grille on the RL, having seen and driven one in person. However, the designers did a fabulous job on the rest of the car! Much better than the TL.

Dont feel bad I love the 05-08 Rls (gonna be my next car) and there was a 09 RL behind me on RT 80 for 60 miles and I thought it was a TSX and it was 2-3 car legthnes behind for 25 min and I love cars ecp acuras but I personally think they blew it with the 09 RL.
I mean the 09 TL sh-awd is just as big now ( it seems the tl got bigger and uglier and the RL got smaller and uglier) Well i was a die hard acura fan for my whole life till 09 models but what the hell i am gonna pick up a 05-06 rl in next couple of months so i will be with acura for anouther 5 years at least!

I think I am one of the few that likes the new TL. TSX and MDX are also good looking. The new RL Have yet to see a new one on the road. Anyone buying cars these days?

I saw a silver 05-08 RL ahead of me on the interstate today. Didn't mistake it for anything but an RL. I'll admit, I got a little nostalgic, damn that's a nice looking car, it just needed my 19" wheels to complete the look. Even my wife misses the RL.... she hasn't taken to the G37 yet, completely different car.

I saw the 09 this morning on the fdr drive in NYC, the rear was nice and pleasing, can't wait till someone gets a honda legend grill for that front

Got to tell you doc...i love my ak, but the other day I pulled up to a new G37 in black with gun metal wheels and it was one of the sharpest cars I have ever seen....I never appreciated how hot the G37 was until I saw it up front and in person.

Hey, thanks, mine is the black on black G37S as well, and it really is an eye catcher. I never had complete strangers come up to me before to tell me I had a nice car before this one! If you think it looks good, try test driving one, but be forewarned, you might just want to buy it!! If only Acura had put similar appeal into its recent designs....

I saw a black 09 RL the other day and had an opposite experience. I saw this car from the back for a second that was turning into a parking lot. I thought it was a Lexus LS460 at first then I tuned behind it and for a split second thought that it was a Mercedes S550. Turns out it was the 09 RL. It looked relly good in black, although I never did see the front end.

I haven't had the chance to drive one yet. Was at the dealer getting an oil yesterday and they didn't even have one in stock.

I did get a chance to drive a loaded '09 TL (FWD).

I have to say that if you can get past the beak, it is a REALLY sharp car. I like it a lot.

What I found interesting is that the 280hp TL felt no quicker than the RL that is encumbered wth having to drive four wheels. The sales guy said the engine is bascally the '08 TL-S engine.

Again, I REALLY liked the car. Fit and finish is much improved and is very close to the RL.

The salesguy told me to come back in November when the SH-AWD TL model comes out. He said it's a beast.

09 RL in black/Red is the most beautiful large car. It hides its size well. From back and sides it just blew away just about any other car. and with price u cant be wrong. LS460/S550 are too long for driving experiance. Car has real presence which TL does not have.
