I am SSIM3 & I am a torqueaholic.

To night I will be preaching from the gospel according to Mike fro Texas that a V8 RWD w/a 7 spd can get comparable milage to the RL & give you a big sh%t eating grin with the slightest depression of your right foot. I got a 2005 cpo e500 with AMG sport package last week for $31,500 & will give a brief comparison to my 06 RL.
RL has superior Nav & Voice controls along with more user friendly interface. E has gotten 20mpg on 1st tank with a mix of 30% HIGHWAY 705 city. E has adptive air suspension with 3 settings gives nice contolled ride comparable to RL, but crisper turn in. HK logic 7 stereo is superior to the Bose. Bixenon rocks, highbeams are incredible. Bluetooth does not have voice tags or dialing, but will download my adress book from my blackberry which the RL would not do, also num pad to dial from on dash is handy. E has a huge trunk. E's seats are also more comfortable. All in all the E is a great car, but it is not $70,000 good. I would never buy a new one, but CPO with 7 years from new warranty and priced in the low-id 30's I say it is a great option compared to the RL. I would not buy the Benz without the extended warranty.

at the V8 gospel. Amen, brotha ssim3! We should all have a chance at a V8 while they still exist in volume.

The Benz sounds nice. I agree with you, I don't think I would have bought that new, either, or without the warranty.

Hopefully the next RL will be enough to pull you back. Enjoy your new ride!

Congrat to your new CPO E500.

Agree on on these two things:

HK logic 7 stereo is superior to the Bose. (It has 11 speakers Plus Sub.)
I would not buy the Benz without the extended warranty.(Not good to keep car when warranty is over- Very expensive in maintainance)

MB CPO warranty is 5 years/100k from original sale date, not 7 year/100k. If you got 7 years then you bought 2 extra.

It's OK, this is a "I moved from the RL to..." thread. Not totally OT.

A decent 6 would win me back if it were tied to rwd. It has not snowed on the island I live on since christmas 1989 so awd is not necessary & I will gladly trade a more efficient system that does not eat power like the current shawd. This is one of the reasons that the RL has not sold well in my opinion as I have stated before is the one option of a six with awd kills many people from even looking. To many sunbelt buyers awd means to much weight & complexity that is not needed along with the cost that is perceived that is for an uneeded feature. Hardly any of the competition will even have any awd options on site. No 5 series, M's or 4matics available down here, so a fwd or rwd option would at least get people to test drive who won't even consider it with the awd. I am starting to really sound like Mike now so I better stop.

Congrats on the purchase--the W211 is classic. What is the color combo on your E? I noticed you mentioned the colors of the R, but didn't see anything about the E.

Beautiful color combo. I'm sure it looks great next to the Glacier White R350.
