How to remove Parking Brake pedal and bracket?

Hi All,

I have a 2005 Acura RL. Need to do some work under the dash and the darned Parking Brake pedal and bracket are in the way. I looked through the service manual and didn't see anything for the Parking Brake pedal even though it covers the regular Brake pedal in reasonable detail.

I poked around and it seemed like the bracket went up under the dash and couldn't see things well enough to know what bolts were holding it on.

Anybody done this? Would appreciate some guidance before I throw up my hands and take it to the dealer, which at this point seems to be only option. I just need to move it a few inches to get access to the rear of the fuse box against the panel.

Thanks in advance!

found it in the manual.

I found it in the service manual two nuts and a bolt that needed to be removed. After than I had to remove a bolt and a nut that was holding a metal box with three connectors in place. There was one more bolt but I could not reach it so I just pushed the box aside a bit and that was enough to get the parking brake pedal bracket off and out of the way.

I was trying to get to my MICU and let me tell you that without doing this, it is impossible to get the connectors off the back of the MICU.

Mine was bad and draining the battery. I found one on ebay, swapped out the EEPROM chip and it worked great. Mind you the first MICU i got off Ebay didn't work and I was feeling pretty discouraged. But the second one was from the same vintage (20005 Acura RL made in late 2004). There was a difference on the PCB revisions too. So I can't say I know for sure, but it seems to work great now.
