I have attempted a 55w conversion and it didn't go so well. Let me tell you why:
1. You will lose AFS (if you didn't use it before, small loss, but you will get the AFS warning light)
2. I have not seen any stock wires that can push 55w ballasts for any extended period of time.
3. You will need an adapter for the D2S bulbs to fit into aftermarket ballasts.
4. You will definitely need a harness to push 55w and there is no guarantee it will be enough, might need a separate one for each.
5. Headlight flicker might be caused by bad bulbs, I suggest you swap those out first.
6. The whole thing is very easy, just remove the screw from the washer fluid top holder and then you have easy access on the left. Right you don't even have to get the battery out.
If you're in the New York area I can give you all the parts below cost as I've already attempted it...couple times. I just couldn't go on without AFS (even though the light output was crazy, I went with 6,000k).
Either way, hope this helps.

you cant just switch out the bulb for a 6k D2s bulb? my headlight was flickering and i just had the bulbs swapped. its all good now. I just didnt change the temp. Is it a problem to change the temp to 6k or do i need new ballasts?

Thanks 037 for the advice. I used to have the stock 4300 watts but then I changed it to the 6k light bulbs. After I changed it, my headlights constantly blink. It is mostly on the left headlight but sometimes on the right. Also, my AFS warning light is on. Anyone know what might be the cause of this? and what should i do to get it fix? Thanks.
