Fuel Pump High Pitch Whine Normal?

I noticed today while the car was in park, but running a high pitch whine coming from the back of the car. Did some searching and found a few posts saying that it's likely the fuel pump, and that this is normal for an 06 RL.

Anyone know if this is true? Or is it a sign that it's failing?

Never noticed it before, and today was pretty cold, in the mid 40s or so. Could it be temp related?

I hope its normal....I have this exact sound and im not replacing it. I am sound proofing my car anyway and have mass loaded vinyl that I am putting under the back seat that should take care of any left over noise. If not you can get the denso pump for $120 (same thing as acura one) and do it yourself, the back seat comes up in a matter of 30 seconds.

Has yours been doing it for a while or just started up?
120 doesn't seem to bad, and sounds like a quick DIY job.
If it keeps it up or gets worse, I will likely replace it.

I never noticed it until I removed my rear seat so I can't really say. I guess it might be because I was never listenning

Sometimes when parts get noisy as they wear it does not mean they are going to fail. So you can probably leave it if you can tolerate the noise. Kinda like the driveshaft. Mine whines and I have no plan to replace it. Good thing it's easy to replace.

Thanks shahram72. The noise is only audible from outside the vehicle, so I can certainly live with it. I may still replace it regardless, since it isn't that expensive.

A question on it, if it is in fact the fuel pump, should I be able to hear the same sound with the key turned to Accessory position, IE turn on the electronics, but not the engine?

I can faintly hear mine outside, and I think I can only hear it inside because the rear seat is up. On a side not I cant really hear it anymore. I had put some Redline S1 fuel cleaner in the tank on last cleanup and I could hear the sound decently then, but I filled up yesterday and I only heard the sound once today.

The 60-80 MPH whirl\whine is well documented on this site.
Here is the link:

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-2005-2012-76/002-propeller-shaft-whine-differential-whir-754805/

This thread discusses both whine at 30-40 mph (prop shaft) and whirl at 60-80 mph (diff)

Still looking for an answer on if this is 'normal' or 'expected' or if I should have replaced.

Can any of the veterans chime in on this for a :noob: ?

I've read mixed reviews on whether or not you should add any chemicals to the RL....IE, Fuel\Oil Treatments, etc.

Is Fuel Cleaner exempt from this and safe to run thru the vehicle?
