Fuel Injector Question

Long story short;

Car threw codes yesterday when leaving work yesterday....went straight to Dealer less than a mile away. Left it with them and got a loaner.

Today I get a call saying I need new injectors...I ask, how many cylinders are missing? He says 1...I say replace the injector that is bad, no others.

Then he says, "Ok, but labor will be 1/2 hour less because we still have to pull the whole rail".

Is this true? Are the injectors difficult to get to? Does the Plenum need to be pulled as well?

Also, am I creating potential issues "down the road" if I just do the 1? Would it be better to replace all?

the plenum needs to be pulled.
once that is off, you have access to the fuel rail.
thats it.
nothing else.
lol
so, if one injector is faulty; it will be easy to get to once plenum is off.

without ever doing it before, I had gotten the plenum off and fuel rails off in about an hour on my TL.

I'm sure with the right tools available at hand(or on a cart) the fuel rails can be accessed in less than an hour.

Got the car back....went from all injectors at $1500 to just the one...I looked under the hood and they definitely pulled the plenum...nice and clean now. They initially wanted $178.52 for just the injector, until I reminded the parts manager that last time I had the car in for service he had put me "in the computer" with a permanent 10% discount off MSRP, which is $148.77. BUSTED.

It was replaced, not rebuilt....Injectors were not included.

So they put the old ones in? I would have negotiated a reduced price on that liability.

They did nothing with the injectors, at that time, the problem was with the #2 cylinder, not the injector, so there was no reason to replace any of them, as I said, at that time.

Now that I've had the car for more than a day, I can tell I made the right decision...they wanted to replace all 6, I said no, just do the 1. Now hopefully I'm good for another 110k.
