Flakey Headlight

I have an 05 RL with a flaky drivers side headlamp. every so often the headlight will flicker and go out especially if the AFS is on, but will still do it from time to time even with AFS shut off.

if i shut the lights off and turn them on again the light will come back on but will flicker again and go out. Seems like it may be a loose connection??

Has anyone else experienced this? any thoughts? Suggestion?

Thanks!

I just replaced my bulbs (2005 RL, too) and that fixed the problem. Here's a thread that will be useful to you:

that thread says take off the bumper

Here's the quick way of doing it...

1. Purchase a D2S bulb either on ebay or amazon (Sylvania)
2. Reach in with your hand, remove a large plastic cover off the bulb
3. Twist off the power plug, it is held by a wire so you won't lose it if you let it go. Keep the car off with lights off as that plug has 23,000v going through it.
4. There is a V shaped spring holding the lights in place, pushing with your thumb on it and moving it to the side will get it off. When done on both sides, the spring will lower and allow for a simple removal of bulb.
5. Put the new bulb in, pull up the spring and push each side until you feel it close
6. Secure the power plug
7. Test the light
8. Replace the plastic cap

Stock bulbs are 4300k color, 35w

If doing the right side, remove the washer fluid holding screw for better access.
