Fender Liners

After doing the brake pad check yesterday, I headed off to town to a doctors appointment. I didn't get but about 3 miles down the road and started to hear a rubbing sound that got progressively worse. It also was turning dependent, as it was quiet one way and noisy the other way. Turned around and took the truck to the appointment. I pulled the RF wheel off to see if something was amiss and found nothing. Looked under the LF and found nothing amiss. IT was obvious that something was rubbing. The only thing that looks like it was rubbing was the RF inner fender liner with a huge hole in the plastic and most of the clips were missing.

Looks like I am going to order a new RF fender liner. Acuraparts Warehouse has a great deal for $95. However, CARID has the same part for $21. Anyone ever installed one of these aftermarket parts and what was your experience?

I am not 100% convinced this was the issue, but it is a good place to start.

From your description, the fender liner sure sounds like the culprit. I have used after-market fender liners, on two cars, in the past, and did experience difficulty, with everything lining up, properly. IMO, for the $74.00 savings, It's not worth the extra hassle!

+1

To add credit to Franks comment I ordered an aftermarket cosmetic part from RockAuto and while it is shaped correctly the material is inferior and thin and doesnt line up. Think I pitched it the $35 wasnt worth the hassle.

OP - does that $95 include shipping? I found my part real cheap at DelRay acura BUT the shipping was crazy so I just ordered from local dealer and surprisingly they had 1 in stock and gave me a discount. If includes shipping Ill always defer to OEM for cosmetic parts where possible.

I made a run by the local Honda agency and picked up some clips and that resolved the issue. The cost was plus shipping. My closest dealer is 100 miles away so for me to pick one up is a dedicated run for other things in that direction. When you buy from RockAuto you have to discriminate what will be close to OEM or will it be something that you said of just "tossing it in to the trash" I buy a lot of parts for my cars from there when I need something and refer others, but again I pick and choose what I will buy there or from the dealer.
