Failing ABS Module ABS/VSA/AFS/BRAKE
Hey all, I've been having the Christmas lights symptom on my 06 RL for a few weeks now (Check: ABS/VSA/AFS/SHAWD/BRAKE). I am at 240k + miles and it first started about 3 seconds after I hit a large bump on the highway. I checked for blown fuses, loose wires, loose grounds, checked the battery voltage and cranking amps, checked the terminals and I could not find anything out of the ordinary. My buddy hooked up his scanner and found the following codes:
126-4 (U0122) F-CAN malfunction (ECM)/Pcm- vsa control module unit
B1170 Gauge control module lost communication with the VSA/ABS modulator-control unit (VSA/ABS message)
41-2 Loss of communication with VSA control unit
Each of the codes were found in one of systems that are throwing the warning lights (ABS/SHAWD/AFS), it appears the ABS/VSA module is not communicating with the other systems. Hoping it was just a glitch/error, we tried to clear the codes, but were unable to. I unplugged the ABS module and cleaned the terminals, there was no rust found but I figured it wouldn't hurt, still no luck.
I am thinking the bump on the highway may have just been a coincidence or possibly the final straw on a failing ABS unit. Based on previous threads, it appears other members have had similar experiences with failing units. I ordered a used one from eBay and will be hoping for the best once I swap it out.
Does anyone have any insight or advice? Would like some re-assurance that I am taking the right approach.....

In case anybody cares or runs into the same problem... I swapped out the ABS module with a used one and flushed my brake fluid. Christmas lights went away at start up. Didn’t have to reprogram the new module or reset any codes.

gave me all sorts of cautions about replacing a modulator (bleeding, reprogramming etc). Glad to hear it was a simple swap and bleed as normal (ie all four corners).
just ordered a used one on ebay. Wish me luck.
