extended warranty issue

Dilema:
I posted a bit of the history of this in another thread. Summary is that I purchased 7 yr/100K extended warranty on 2005RL when purchased at "Dealer1".
Two weeks ago after maitenance issue at "Dealer2", I find out that the Warranty had been canceled some time after I purchased the car by Dealer1 (not sure why or how they could do that). After researching with Acura Customer Service, they claim I was sent a refund of the Warranty purchase, but confirms that check was never cashed. All major repairs to date were done under regular warranty, so no one ever told me about cancellation.
Acura sent a new check which I now have. They would not reinstate the Warranty.
Now I am sitting with a 2005RL with 85,000 miles and a $1800 check.
Should I bank check for future problems or try to fight to get warranty back.

WTF?

I'd fight to get the warranty back if at all possible. How can you be at fault if you didn't know that Dealer1 cancelled the warranty?

I agree, but in initial call to ACura, did not have right level of authority on the call. I thought - will get check in the mail and then decide what to do. Only doubt in my mind is that I've got less than a year left (in terms of mileage) if I get warranty reinstated. What are my odds at this point that something goes before or after warranty. I've made it to 85K; if I make it to 100K, then I have the $1800.

Assuming you've had the AC repaired, I'd keep the check. You've been with the car long enough that major problems should have surfaced by now...that is, you don't have a lemon. I'd bet that you are not likely to have $1800 in repairs on the car if you've taken care of it properly. Keep the $1800 on hold until you hit 100k miles. The odds are in your favor on this one.

Yes - had AC repair as well as the TSBs.
I am leaning toward keeping the check.

I just got my 05. It has 34,500 miles on it, good condition. My question is after I checked my warranty extension options: why would I extend the warranty for +4 years/48,000 miles now if I can do that for the same price at 4years(in my case in Sept 09)/49,999? I don't want the warranties to overlap. Especially if the price IS the same. is my thinking logical?

The extended warranty you pay for is in addition to the factory warranty (assuming Acuracare). Whether you buy it now or at 49999 miles, you get the same warranty extension....if you pay for 4 years/48k mile extension, that coverage begins at 50k miles, not 34500.

For getakey: If you had only a year left anyway and you've already had the biggest-ticket warranty item already repaired.....keep the check. I changed my mind now that there's more data.

I bought my CPO 06 in April and was told that the warranty extension to 100k could be obtained only at the time of original purchase. In other words I could not come back a year later and purchase the same extension; we didn't discuss any pricing differences.

The benefit of buying it when you buy the car is that you have more bargaining power. If you buy it at a later date, you are going to pay full retail.
