Exhaust Problem

I'm getting 'black soot' out of the exhaust pipes!? Has anyone else experienced this problem? I'm using premium gas and when I took it to the dealer to diagnose the problem, they said there wasn't anything wrong???? Then why the soot??? This looks terrible on my 'white' car and it takes special steps during every washing to remove from the bumper. Help!!!!

Do you have pics? Can those "black" be wiped out by cloth with water?

My car used to be like that. IMO.

I have the black soot on my car, which is white also. I think all RLs have the soot, except that it's more pronounced on our cars due to the color.

As you stated, it does take an extra step after a car wash, since it isn't easily removed with a damp cloth or with a window cleaner. That being said, I use Meguire's polish, which removes the soot stains quite easily and is clearcoat safe.

I also have a white RL and have the soot problem. Looks like a diesel. Doesn't seem that a car with ultra low emissions would have soot on the bumper, but maybe that is how Acura achieves that. The soot sticks to the bumper instead of going into the atomsphere.

Thanks for the laugh!
