Question Door stops

I'm starting to hate the weakness of the door stops - the doors will not stay in the open position if there is the slightest incline on the area where I'm parking. It happens on both sides, driver and passenger doors. Have you noticed this? Is it just my car? I need to bring the door to the intended stop and hold it there for a second for it to stay, if I just swing it open, it will invariably come back and hit my leg as I'm stepping out of the car.

I noticed the same with my RL. I thought it was designed that way for the doors to have enough spring-back to shut the doors with the slightest force, which the RL does well.

I believe this is due to the "soft close inertia" system that Acura uses on the TL and RL doors.

Trust me guys, it's not as bad as the MB's system. I got my finger stuck in one of the doors on our S500 and with the auto close system, it kept closing slowly thus breaking my finger and almost severing it!

Sometimes convenience becomes an annoyance

Sue the basards! Those autoclose gadgets are just a waste of money and weight IMO. My inlaws both have an RX400h and it has an automatic liftgate. Bah. A simple gas piston will do, thank you very much.

Anyway, I would agree that it's important a door stays at the selected 'stop' even when at a a mild incline.

No problems here but then there aren't a whole lot of inclines in Chicago either.

My wife's main gripe with the RL is getting out. First, the handle is far forward (to complete the boomerang), and she isn't that tall. Then she has to try to swing it out a bit further than she can reach only to have it come back at her quite often.
