Do you pay for visual inspections?
Got the B5 indicator. Besides oil change, coolant, and tire rotated, everything is a visual inspection.
Since I just had the timing belt and water pump done, I skipped the coolant. Didn't rotate the tires either. Just an oil change with a coupon for $29.00.
After the service, the tech told me my tires were wearing evening and told me the tread depth (plenty left), brake pads remaining (alot left), wiper refills good, etc.
So basically, they did all the visual stuff for free. I asked the checkout lady what it would have costed if I asked for a B5 service and it was $324!![what](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/what.gif)
Lesson learned: Never pay anyone to tell you something that is not broke. They will look for it for free to try to get added sales.

I'm with you on that...the services are just "inspect, inspect, inspect" most of that can be done by anyone mildly familiar with automobiles.
I have noticed that one time the service adviser noted "declined service B1" on the service ticket. I feel like this is setting me up for a warranty claim denial or something. So now I just reset the maintenance light before going in and ask for what I need, oil change, or whatever.
I never neglect regular maintenance, but I refuse to pay someone hundreds of dollars to visually inspect my vehicle.
