Disconnected my battery, now outside handle locking inoperative?

Hi all, first post.

I disconnected my battery the other day to install some LED DRL bulbs (space on the driver's side is tight in there, as you all know). I went about resetting everything afterwards....windows, radio, navi, etc. and everything has been fine. I have noticed though that I can't lock the doors from the outside touch sensor anymore.

The car has always been finicky with the touch sensor, especially after a car wash, but now it seems like no matter what I do I can't get it to go.

Any thoughts/suggestions/prior experience?

Does the car lock with the fob button? When you turn the ignition, does it say, "Welcome Driver #"?

Yes, it does unlock at the handle and with the fob, and it does recognize both fobs as D1/D2.

Unlock works, but does lock work? I assume so since you can unlock.

When you wash the RL with the fob outside the car but nearby, the water causes the sensors to trigger. This rapid, prolonged firing overheats the handles and causes a short. Check fuse #7 in the driver' kick panel. If it is blown, you can try to replace it and see if it blows again. Your handle(s) is probably shot and needs to be replaced.

Thanks for the help, 007.

Lock and unlock from the fob works, as well as unlock on the handle. The only part that doesn't work is lock from the handle.

I typically run the car through a touchless car wash (where I don't have to get out of the car/turn the car off) and the lock function at the handle always seems to stop working for a few days. I always attributed this to the wash (knowing that the moisture trips the sensor) and always just thought that it started working again after a few days because the handle "dried out" for lack of a better term.

Really I guess my question is did disconnecting the battery do anything to the lock function at the handle, something I maybe need to reset? I'll check out that fuse right now.

Also, will the dealership still cover cost of replacing the handle, even though I'm (way) out of warranty? I understand this is either a common complaint and/or has a TSB issued for it.

Thanks or the links, EE4. I'll print those out.

FWIW, I checked the fuse at position 7 and all is as normal, not popped or burnt out.

Troubleshooting electronics is a huge part of my job, so I've always enjoyed reading the issues here and throwing darts around. The OGs of my early years here were just as knowledgable or more, so I've done a lot of reading.

The driver's side door hasn't locked with the handle since we purchased the car last summer. I figured it's probably too expensive to be worth replacing, but I admit I am curious just how expensive.

Here is the part: 25 72181-SJA-A04ZC HANDLE, L. *B92P* (NIGHTHAWK BLACK PEARL)
$223.11

It has been done a number of times by members here, but is described as a pain in the ass. I would expect an independent shop to be able to do it for $100 or less.
