Considering purchasing 2010 andsp have questions
Hi,
I've done quite a bit of reading here at the 2nd Gen RL forum, but have found that when issues are discussed it's often not clear whether those chiming in have an '05 or a '10 RL (or any year in between). So, I'm hoping you guys can help clarify if any of the following should be issues specifically in the '10 model.
The one I'm considering is a CPO and has less than 40K miles on it, but is still obviously 5 years old and has been driven in winter conditions. I've researched all the applicable TSB's for that year and don't see too much to be concerned about.
Should I be at all worried about motor or transmission mounts (now or in the future)?
Was the bluetooth module problem ever resolved in the 2nd Gen RL (so is this unit's module likely to die at some point)?
Can anyone chime in about the actual fuel efficiency they get in their 2010 RL? I know these cars aren't particularly efficient, but I also know the mpg ratings went up from 16/22 for 2010 to 17/24 in 2011. Is the difference in fuel efficiency real for 2010 to 2011 or was that just marketing hype?
Anything else specific to worry about with the purchase of a CPO 2010 RL?
Thanks!

I think by the time you get to the 2010 years and newer, most of the kinks have been worked out. The difference in MPG between the 2010 and 2011 is real and is attributed to the 6 speed tranny in the 2011-2012 models. I don't know what price range you are looking at, but if I were you I would look for a 2011 just for that reason alone. The extra gear is worth it in my opinion. As you said, these are still not fuel efficient vehicles, so any extra MPG boost is better than nothing.

Hey,
I own a 2011 RL Advance, I haven't had a problem with the bluetooth module. On my 2011 I get about 21MPG, which is about avg. for large, heavy, awd, V6 mid-size luxury sedans. I would recommend go for a 2011 Tech or Adv.. With a 2011 you'd get, 6-speed(5-speed is very dated), new grille, new wheels, backup sensors, power folding side mirrors(adv.). You should have no problem with a higher millage 2011, if you want lower miles, jump on a 2010 CMBS or Tech.

All Honda motor mounts are suspect to failure. Everything else is generally solid. Obviously every car is a different case.
