China RL Commercial

I don't even undertstand the language, but I can tell the most unique feature of the car in this advert is SHAWD.

Nice find, albeit the videos are kinda short ... about 15 sec each. Is advertising that expensive in China, which causes the videos to be so short ?

If I remember correctly, both the RL and TL were grossly overpriced in China when they first came out, and they don't even come with navi. I also heard that due to horrific sales caused by extragavant prices, Acura had to slash MSRP significantly to move the cars.

My wife is from China. I had her try to translate the commercial.

The SH-AWD is pretty obvious, as they spell it out, and then say that its a special four wheel drive

She said that one line said something to the tune of "let our wisdom release your freedom"
and then "precise luxury"

Both of which are a heck of alot better slogans in my mind than "Advance". I think "Precise Luxury" would not be a bad U.S. Slogan

Glad to see that companies are using better slogans for their Chinese commercials. When Pepsi first went to China, their slogan “Come alive with the Pepsi Generation” came out as “Pepsi will bring your ancestors back from the dead"

Then again, I even like THAT slogan better than "Advance":

"the Acura RL....precision luxury that will bring your ancestors back from the dead!"

I should be in advertising...

I agree that Acura Advance is lame. You wouldn't even know Acura was a car company when they run the quick promo spots during a football game, for example. For a car company with an obvious identity crisis this is a problem.

Acura: Accurate Luxury. OK, that's kind of lame, too.
