A/C cooling fan motor not operating correctly

The a/c cooling fan on my '05 to won't run unless I take a pen and press on the fan blade. The pressure to the fan blade makes it start running. Is there a way to repair the fan motor or am I going to have to replace it?

It has been my experience working on many different honda / acura models that if the fan motor does in fact still operate they can be repaired. With that said depending on what is causing the issue it may be a better solution to just replace it. Regardless of which choice you make the existing one will have to come out.

. Its the driver side fan I'm not sure if it's the a/c cooling fan or radiator fan.

Drivers side is for the radiator. Sounds like a possible loose connection.

The driver side is the cooling fan. The ac is on the passenger's side. The A/C fan also has a metal housing and the cooling fan has a plastic housing. It also has the tell-tale big 'metal thing' on it with wires going to it. See picture.

I wonder ifit would help if I could take the motor apart and clean up the brushes and inside of the motor?

Before you go that far I would try putting direct power to the fan and see if it kicks on with out pushing the the blades with a pen.

I had the A/C Condenser fan go out earlier this year. Not the same symptoms as what you describe...it was a motor bearing on its way out. After researching my options, I opted for a aftermarket part from rockauto. Good luck!
