Brought a used 05 RL PROBLEMS! need help.

Hi guys,

I recently just purchased a used 2005 acura rl. I need help finding out my navi code. I have used the search function countless times to figure out how to retrieve navi code without having the owners manual. im reading thru the forums and wanted to know if this was correct, "you have to pull out the navigation unit in the trunk where it holds the dvd to obtain a serial number and than contact acura customer care to get the code." i was wondering if this was true and the only way? i looked in my glove box and could not find any serial numbers. my radio is working fine after putting in the code.

i also have problem with the driver main window unit. i can not roll up nor down windows in the rear using the drivers window unit. but rear windows will roll up and down using the rear door buttons. can someone guide me in to fixing this problem.

thank you in advance

heres a fix for your windows.

2006 RL Sunroof Reset and Window Reset

According to the Sevice Manual, In order to reset the Moonroof Control Unit do these steps:
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Press and hold the tilt switch and turn the ignition switch ON (II).
3. Release the tilt switch and turn the ignition switch OFF.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 four times.
5. Press and hold the moonroof open switch until 3 seconds after the moonroof is fully opened.
6. Press and hold the moonroof close switch until 3 seconds after the moonroof is fully closed (tilted).
7. Confirm that the moonroof is reset by using the moonroof AUTO OPEN and AUTO CLOSE function.
****************************************
To reset the EACH problem window, do these steps from the individual window control, NOT the driver's master control panel:

Press and hold the button to roll each problem window all the way down, then hold for 5 seconds after the window is down. Let go of the button. Press and hold the button to put the window the whole way up then hold for 5 seconds after the window is up. your windows should now be reset and can be controlled from the drivers window controls.

My radio and navi codes are on little stickers on the left side inside the glove box. Perhaps the previous owner never removed them. Take a look.

Both of these issues are very easy fixes. As ichi d posted above, all you need to do is perform the window reset procedure to fix your window issue. As far as your Nav and Radio codes, go to owners.acura.com and register your RL (You will need you VIN). Once you register and log in you could try and retrieve your codes from the link in the website. This may or may not work. If it does not, just take your RL (best to have the title with you) to the closest acura dealer and they can easily look both codes up for you and give them to you free of charge.

There is an easier way to look up your navi/radio codes. Open up your hood and open up the electrical fuses box. Inside of the top cover, you'll see codes for these. Should have a sticker on it. I found mine thru that way.

I would contact Acura again. My dealer was able to give me the codes over the phone. The service dept. phone operator/cashier was who gave me mine! (Crown Acura, Clearwater). I can't imagine being charged for that service. (Pull the nav unit, Huh?) One more location for the codes is on a white card with your owners manual, although it's too late for that now.

I just bought a used 2005 RL without the manuals, (but with both key fobs). The navigation code was in the glove compartment!
