Brake vibration new 2005 RL

Picked up the newRL (18"OEM rims, Pirelli PZero Nero tires) last Friday, drove about 30 miles, no problems with brakes. Wife drove it to NJ (about 160 miles). On NJ Turnpike, had to brake hard when cop car pulled out suddenly from shoulder (to catch someone else). Since then, there is rumbling vibration when braking unless you brake very gently. Maybe getting a little better. Any idea what the problem is? Anything to do with braking hard with new pads/rotors? Overtorqued lug nuts? Advice appreciated. Will visit the service department on Tuesday (no appt) if this doesn't go away.Thanks.

My first guess is you have some pad build up due to the hard braking. Take a look at:

Hard braking

Thanks. Interesting reading. We'll see what (if anything) this particular dealership's service department comes up with.

My wife tells me that after about another 50 miles of driving, the vibration with braking is pretty much gone. I suspect you had the right diagnosis, and I'll let it be for now. For the price, it's a great car to drive; a little bit more low end torque would be nice though...will have to wait until I get my Flying Spur in 2007 or 2008, assuming gas isn't at $6/gallon by then.
