Bought new lights for my 05 RL

Basically what happened was that my Foglight went out so I decided to buy a kit for the conversion and then I bought 6000K for my headlights so both my fogs and my headlights are 6000K I just thought I'd share with the Acura community!

Before

After, you won't see much because it's outside and the sun is out.

And this one is in the garage where you can get a better view of the lights.

Basically the installation was long, I don't know what I could have done to make it faster or better but basically some friends and I what we did was we removed the front bumper and then removed the battery and then removed the headlights to put the D2S bulb in (D2C from ebay) and then putting the headlight in was, let's say really difficult because its harder than it looks lol.

Putting in the fog lights was easy we just had to do the wiring and zip tie the ballast and of course swap bulb.

I just wanted to know if you guys know of an easier way, because of there has to be lol. But yeah tell me what you guys think!

just a warning fake bulbs are not built with the same quality as Phillips, Osram, Kioto, Hella (OEM type bulbs) with them being built very cheap and low quality control these bulbs tend to run hotter which can over time burn your reflective coating off in the projector assembly reducing light output

I just went through the exact same thing yesterday and today. I bought Morimoto 5K DS2 and H11 for the fog lights. I love the fog lights but the DS2 left so much to be desired. When I pulled out the D2S that was already in the car it was an Orsam. No way I could change it and the color was ten times better than the Morimoto. On top of that the color matched the fog lights better. Basically, the way you did it was the exact same way I had started to do it. But when I say I had some Orsams I could't change.

So what do you use? I'm actually having problems with my right fog light now not turning on, so I have to keep turning my lights and fog lights on and off a bit to get it to stay on.

At one of the meets I have changed the headlight bulbs without taking the bumper off.

There is enough room to squeeze a hand in, remove the plastic cap, disconnect power, and undo the V shaped pressure clip.

Taking off bumper and headlight...that's real painful.

Thumbs up on the 6k color though, stock lights do seem kinda ugly. Over the years...I did eventually realize how much light I lost, but it looked soo much better!!!

8k low, 10k high.

That issue appears to be a faulty ballast or bad bulb. Do you have a relay setup for the foglights?

Unfortunately there are no amazing quality bulbs out side of the D family (d2s, d2r, d1s etc) headlights I run the osram CBI 66420. Other reliable options for headlights are Phillips 85122+ osram svs 66420.

For rebased bulbs piaa , cats and morimoto xb line are my most recommended bulbs

Well I just contacted the guy from Ebay about it, so I'm expecting to get a replacement ballast and a bulb soon.

And I was looking at morimoto at theretrofit, is there a difference between the 35 (3five) watt and the 50 (5five) watt one. They're only 50 bucks at http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=240

It's not like im spending like hundreds of dollars lol

Yea the 5five ballast put out 50 watts and 3five put out 35 watts. With a cheaper bulb and 5five temps will be high enough to possibly damage the reflector bowls. BTW retrofit source is a great company with awesome customer service

If you are putting the HIDs in a stock halogen socket, follow Carbon's advice and get 35W. The vast majority of that extra power will be heat that can damage your housing.

I was referring to his factory hid projectors as well. In the 10 years I have been in the HID hobby I have learned a lot and experienced endless amounts of products and have kept notes on what products to avoid. I have tested several brands of bulbs and ballast and some results are amazing. When I get time I'll do a full writeup on what I have tested

just wanted to throw in my

I've spent hundreds of dollars on 50w ballasts and bulbs, they are nowhere near as reliable as the 35w.

They do put out a hell of a lot more light...but I was changing them almost every month.
