best time of year to buy an RL?
I have been reading these forums for months for and am very interested in purchasing a new 06 RL. I am leasing a 2004 TL with Navi now and it's getting too expensive. I like the TL but I don't love it!
However, I am reading the various posts on what people paid for a new 05 RL towards the end of last year once the 2006 RL's came into stock. Prices people indicate are much less than invoice. I was reading around 40-41.5 when invoice was higher.
Knowing that Acura is only providing incenvtives for leases (at least this month) does it make sense to wait until 2007 RL comes out and then purchase a 2006 RL new? If so, when does the 2007 come out? How much $ could I save by waiting?
I've been looking at used 05 and 06's on Ebay and Cars.com but most of them are upwards of 40K. A used 06 RL sold on Ebay for 41.2K with 923 miles.
The used RL's I've been looking at for around 35K (the amount I would be willing to pay for a used RL) seem to have around 30K miles which I would probably just in time for the breaks to wear and tires to be replaced.
For the extra 4-5k (presuming I could buy a new 2006 RL for 45K which seems possible given what people are saying in this forum), I am thinking it's worth it to buy the car brand new unless some of the more savy buyers in this forum thinks it makes sense to wait.
Does anyone know how much of an incentive (in $) that Acura gives the dealers at year end to get rid of 06 RL's when the 07 RL's come in? I guess I want to know how much I am leaving on the table by pulling the trigger now and not being patient enough to wait 7 months.
Please let me know. Thank you!

Considering how poorly the RL sold in January, I have a feeling the dealers are going to do whatever is necessary to increase sales for February. I think buying a new RL at the end of this month would be a good idea.

If leasing your TL is getting too pricey, then youre looking at the wrong car. Go check out the RSX, im sure you'd be able to score a helluva deal before they discontinue them.

I meant leasing in general is getting too expensive. With the increased 20 cents per mile and 10,000 per year. Not the RL car itself.
Even though the car did'nt sell well in january, if invoice is 44.6k you can't get a better price than that so the actual selling price of the cars in February actually has nothing do with what happened in January.
Keep in mind Acura did not change their RL current offer from Jan to Feb which would leave me to belive they really are'nt that worried about the low sales in January.

I don't think Acura knows what to do! Infiniti (M) has agreesively offered attractive leasing opportunities as has Lexus (GS). Acura's residual is a couple points less then Infiniti's but Acura's money factor is too high. Living in the land of silicone and over-indulgence (aka Los Angeles), I see few RLs but quite a bit M's and GS'. Of course, most are leased. Nevertheless,...

I agree with the post above. If a $35k TL is too expensive, how is a $45-50k RL less expensive?
But to answer your question, the best time is dictated by manufacturer (rebates/etc.) and general time of year. January and February are the slowest car sales months (due to end-of-year sales for tax and gift reasons).

My lease on a 2004 TL was $480+tax, and current 2005 RL is $570+tax. Pretty much apples with apples since they both were autos equipped with navi (clearly RL has more features).
I will say that the RL "feels" more expensive (there are some cheap plastic parts but black is a good interior color for the car), and I always felt like my TL was an "dressed-up Honda Accord."
But is +$100 (or +20%) worth it?
It was for me, but there wasn't a good financial reason - just made me feel better.
