BackUp Cam

Anyone who has the backup cam... could you answer me this.
When I start my car... the "earth and acura symbol" stays up for several seconds.. (maybe 10)... then I get the legal disclaimer...which even if I press Ok.. take another few seconds to go away.
When I get in my car, I typically turn it on, slam it in gear and go. I don't wait for these screens to end... in fact, I'm usually out of my garage and half way down the driveway before they're done.
If you get the backup cam... does it come on as soon as you put it in reverse? Or do you have to wait for these other screens to cycle through?
Thanks

I don't have a cam in my RL but do have one in our 05 MDX. Although we do not have to wait for a full boot up there is a several second delay bfore the camera comes on. Sometimes it is annoying becasue I on rely on it backing up and I sometimes have to delay my moving. Not a biggee just wish it was instant. You probably have to count to 5 before it activates.

Yup, that's right -- it usually comes on over the Acura symbol for me but before the legal BS screen, about 3-5 seconds after start.

Really, it's not good to just slam it in gear and go anyway -- you should give the transmission fluid and oil a few seconds to circulate before putting any load on the drivetrain.

Usually what I do is start the car, then put the seatbelt on. By the time I'm done with that, the legal screen's usually up, and the rearview cam kicks right in.

Of course, sometimes it doesn't kick OUT after it goes in drive, which is wierd -- kinda nauseating seeing the road rush away from me.... only for a few seconds, though.

The backup camera will override the nag screen usually within a second or two. Same thing in my Odyssey. Once or twice the camera image will linger after the car is out of reverse.

On my 2006, they put the new trunk release button on the passenger side. After living with it, I wish they had put the little button on the driver's side.

I wonder if you can get the kit parts from an camera-equipped '07 and reconfigure the trunk to have an original type OEM trunk release. In other words, upgrade an '06 with the dealer-installed camera to be like the 2007 that comes with the camera. Hmmm....
