Congrats Bob! The new CTS-V is one of my favorite cars out there, ever.... not just current. I've had my heart set on an E39 M5 ever since I first saw it (yes, even before I could drive) but seriously, the CTS-V is just stunning in the flesh- or is it steel? and it just sends chills down my spine looking at its specs and performance. I want to drive one badly.
One thing is for sure.... that drivetrain is a gem. I believe the difference vs. the LS9 in the ZR1 is smaller intercooler, smaller supercharger, and some engine parts are cast rather than forged.... nonetheless it is an amazing engine! And GM automatic transmissions are also found in BMWs

Don't worry, I'm not leaving AZ or the RL forum. I'm waiting for Acura to impress me with the next RL.

Glad to see the 'considered' impluse purchase. It didn't take long after you reasoned it out, fought it, then rejected all reason. Nice to see good people get nice stuff.
Let the modding begin. I'm taking odds that the CTS/V will last no more than 36 months, enjoy it! You will be ready for something else, nothing wrong with the car.

Congratulations on the new ride.... The low end torque of the V will keep you smilling from a long time.....
I am guessing by next summer you will be ready to dump the S2K ... may be for a P car or a dedicated track car.

This is the first car I will be compelled to buy winter tires for. I'm already on the lookout for CTS-V castoff painted wheels on which I can put some Pirelli Sottozeros (recommended by other V owners for winter duty). This car has the SAME problem as the RL--big ass Brembos with a funny offset. At least on this car, the offset makes the wheels/tires look even beefier. Also, Stabilitrak does wonders for the car.
The car also comes with a backup assist. When you are below 5 mph and backing up, a series of lights over the rear headliner (you can see them in the rearview mirror) tells you how far you are from an object. Works great! However, a camera is planned for the upcoming CTS wagon this summer and the hardware will be backwards compatible with all CTSs including the V. I'll be opting for that.
The car has more electronic creature comforts than the RL...though that reflects the passage of time since the RL's release, when it was the king of tech......comparo coming soon!

More CTS discounts
First - Congratulations Bob!!! You might need to come out to Montana to fully test that new engine!
Second and not anywhere near RL topic, but if anyone else is thinking of "straying" to the CTS ranks , until the end of the month Cadillac is giving an additional bonus (at least a couple thousand) to current members of credit unions. I am certain it is nothing like the savings you received with the Employee Pricing Discount, but it might be enough to persuade someone out there to switch. I priced a non-V (didn't have any Vs on the lot) and MSRP sticker was $47K and with all the incentives it was a shade over $40K (no trade and not including tax, etc.).
So have fun with the new Caddy, but the big question is which car gets kicked out of the garage??

5,200 LBS! ? ! ? The RL is 4,100, I assume because of SHAWD.
And I thought THAT was heavy. 19 highway... Shit. These are SUV #s. (I'd still L O V E to rip up the road with one, and would in a heartbeat). Id never get used to that, but easily could. Man!
Takin' it to the next level. Sweeet. Congrats.

Congrats! The CTS is a wonderful car. First Car I test drove that made me thought of leaving Acura. I am still not ready to go American. Japan has been good to me for over 35 years. Like you, I will wait to see what Acura is gonna do in the next couple of years. I loved my 06 RL.

No. I am already risking a change in reliability by going American, I don't want to do anything else to throw off the success I've had up to now. Of course, my RL wasn't perfect either...
It's 4200 pounds. That was definitely a typo.
Yup, I love Acura and its bang for the buck philosophy, it's just that the current designs leave me wanting. I hope the 3G RL will be a stunner.
