Acura History / Autoweek Mag

An interesting write up in Autoweek. I am old enough to remember the original Legend when brand new and fortunate enough to have had a girlfriend with a brand new 1st generation Legend coupe and a co-worker with a brand new 2nd gen Legend coupe that would let me swap cars with him on weekends.

Sigh....I remember the good old days, too, when Acura actually tried to win customers. 2G Legend was and is still one of my favorite cars of all time. The 2G RL is an all-time great as well, just sadly misunderstood by the public and never marketed well by Acura.

037 you're funny

2G Legends ('94-'95), and '93 Integra GSRs and Type-R trim were the best acura's of all time.

I have to agree with 037 that the 1st Gen Legend didn't quite live up to its name. They definitely got it right on round 2 though.

When I was selling Legend #2 I created a post asking how I should go about it with one option being: look for someone willing to restore it. I got a response,

I so badly wanted to reply, "You're right it's not a classic... It's a LEGEND!!!"

It will go down as one of the best made cars of the '90s. Ludacris has millions to spend on ANY car he desires. His favorite? A '93 Legend sedan. My mechanic constantly complained that they over engineered that car. A forward facing engine in a front wheel drive? Acura outdid itself on that one.

Yes they certainly did - I had '91 Legend and we kept it till 2000 when wife replaced it with TL. 2nd Gen Legend was great engineering and a worthy flagship. Current RL flagship is just carrying a flag and not such an engineering marvel.
Those were the days of Acura ...
