3D Computer Generated Acura RL Model

This looks pretty well detailed.

If anyone does not to find it too pricey, I'd be curious how interactive this 3D CG graphic downlad is.....

It also reminds me how much I love the line of this car.

Impressive looking grahpics! I would suspect that the download cost is minimal compared to the graphics programs needed to interact with these drawings. I use a 2D program at work and the license for just one seat is over $6K.

I wonder who purchases these? Animators, advertisors, game designers?

Interesting. I work with a company that prints 3D models directly from CAD files. The 2 formats they list are not directly compatible with our equipment, but we may be able to import the file and convert it into usable data. If so, I could print little RL models in plastic or metal.(!)

Is that using stereolithography?

supergreen 04-27-2008 02:51 PM

Yep. Stereolithography (SLA) or Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) would be the 2 methods I'd like to try. I'll talk with one of our engineers on Monday to see if it will work.
Our website is www.scicontech.com if you want more info.

Interesting....

Initially I thought the graphics were intended for video games. I know the RL can be configured on some already.

But how sweet to have a detailed laser sculpted model on my desk. :yum:

A friend did some work for a company that developed software called SolidWorks (I think). It was pretty impressive in terms of selecting views (rotating 3D, etc) and then porting the drawing(s) to CNC or other machines that could convert that into an actual part. Pretty rapid prototyping.

Yea, i've seen them...

There'sa few of thoseRL models running around the internet. One i haven't seen of the a 99-04 style, so i built one...

If you can actually make a 3D plastic cutout of it that would be CRAZY!

I have the model up for free download on google's 3D warehouse.

It's not complete, you know the fogs missing and the mirrors not attached to the body completely, but hey. I'm not that great and it was the first car I've ever tried to make.

TampaRLX-SH 04-30-2008 05:51 AM

How does that make it a repost? The 3D software vendor makes no mention of being associated to xbox.

vincethe1 04-30-2008 04:51 PM

no, i said it's also in forza 2 on xbox as a side note...the reason i said it's a repost is because i've seen some1 post this on here a while ago.

link to the supposed repost?

I have been on this board for 2 years and have not seen this site posted. Yes there has been a post referencing to the RL on forza 2...I posted it.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ght=video+game

But there has been no reference to this particular web site and the supposed commercial application, particularly since it was only recently made available.

OK... been doing some research on this.
According to the 3D Studio Max website, their software is able to export an IGES or STL file... 2 of the formats we can use to print a stereolithography model.
Our company does not have 3D Studio Max, so I'm waiting to hear back from Exchange 3D to see if they can provide me with one of the compatible formats.
Hopefully they have it! :wish:
