2011 RL few details
Was at the dealer I bought my TL from today to discuss the RL since a new job may allow me a car.
Went into their dealer allotment site and presto! 2011 will have a 6sp AT and Advanced pkg however, there were no details as to what this pkg will be on the the RL, he suspects CMBS, adv cruise AND BLI.
They were told they'll be on the dealers shelves by November but, advanced pkg models probably 1-2 months later.
Also, no more parchment leather and a new red ext color but, I forget the name.
I wish they'd add the HD based stereo.
I saw this all myself on the the computer screen, not much really.

After all, the MDX is an SUV.

Honda has surprisingly little information on the Blind Spot Information System (BSI). Here is a description from the 2011 MDX, the most comprehensive I found in a quick search
BLIND SPOT INFORMATION SYSTEM
As part of the available Advance Package, the blind spot information (BSI) system uses numerous radar sensors to continually monitor conditions around the MDX and then alert the driver if another vehicle is detected in close proximity to the MDX— especially when in the blind spot of the driver. The BSI system uses small indicators (mounted in the A-pillars) that illuminate to alert the driver when another vehicle is detected in close proximity to the MDX.
To prevent false alarms while maneuvering at low speed, the BSI system is disabled below approximately 6 mph. The system can also be manually switched off by the driver using a switch is located on the instrument panel to the left of the steering wheel.

seems odd that there is nothing on the acura website if the 2011s are only 2 months away

In fact, this info came up only when he went online to see available CMBS versions and whoops, what's this?
It was a spreadsheet that only showed 6sp in one column, base, tech, advanced in another, nothing else.
He said they'd get their allotment request any day now and let me know. He strongly suspects no advance pkg versions in first one or two shipments beginning in November.
Not really much info but, this I have seen with my own eyes.

I see.
What was in the Style magazine? I did not get a copy

I am guessing the Advance package will be nearly identical to the 10 Tech and CMBS/ACC Package, just renamed to fit the packages available on other models.

I also wonder about folding mirrors and how those work?
#18
is this a whole new redesign or a refresh update to the kb2?

They work the same as other cars that have the option: put the car in P and turn off the ignition and a little motor pulls on a crank that is cantilevered to an arm that is attached to the mirror assembly. When the folding mirror is fully closed, and the mirror has reached its end stop the motor stalls therefore drawing more current. The current sensing module then eliminates the applied voltage to the motor and the mirror stays closed. Re-ignition reverses the process.
This option is very popular in countries that have smaller roads, less parking lots and where people frequently park on the side of the road. This parking situation significantly reduces the road width and a "clash" of mirrors is not uncommon. The RL mirrors easily fold back but it's nice to have them do it automatically. The feature also greatly reduces mirror vandalism where kids will go through a parking lot and baseball bat every mirror that is available. (a new mirror assy is hundreds o' $'s)

Is it a printed mag or electronic?

It was a printed mag, but I have never received it, even though I signed up a few times. I finally complained to Acura, and they put two back issues in the mail to me, and then I have never received anything again.
They have occasional web articles, for example on Acura Owner site, but it has not been consistent or comprehensive.

The Acura style magazine comes out twice a year, winter and summer. The newest edition is far far better in my opinion. More articles that actually go on for several pages.
