2008 RL Overheated
Has anyone experienced this????
My 2008 RL had some low fluid in the aux fluid bottle ever 2 or 3 days. I added the specified amount. Well I checked things this morning and they looked fine. I drove a 100 miles away and it over headed. Looks like I have a busted hose.

1) did you drive it while it was overheating? or did you pull over IMMEDIATELY and turn off the engine? Very important, here.
2) looks like you have a busted hose or do you know you have a busted hose?
3) how many miles are on the car? if over 100k miles, I suspect you changed the timing belt/water pump, right??

Pull over immediately and let it cool. Then drove another 2 miles. I think it's a busted hose. When I got to my destination I let it cool and tried to add antifreeze and it just runs out after 30 seconds. The car has 101,000. Yes I have had the timing/water pump changed.

when did you have the water pump changed?
when you pour fluid in, can you see fluid dripping out?
if busted hose, replace hose.
i suspect water pump, tho....(i could be wrong here)
also, depending on how far you drove while it was over heated dictates how long your engine will last.
if not long, you probably didnt do any damage to the heads.
if engine was driven while the engine temp gauge is in the red, the heads could have warped.

A radiator cap that doesn't hold pressure will release steam, and you will never know it until you run out of coolant.

The thermostat can stick too. I had the temp go up to 90%+ a couple of times in Legend #1, and I never damaged the heads or the head gasket. It is a real possibility for sure, but it isn't a given.
