Hi RL's

I know my name says 1stRL but this is actually 2nd RL. My first was a 2005 RL back in 2009, now I have a 2008 RL (so technically my 2nd). Paid 10K for it with 111K miles with receipts that all major work has been completed (timing belt, tires, etc).

I love this car.

I test drove a bunch of cars in the 10-20k price range (M35x, M45, G35, C300, E350, 5 Series, etc) and hands down the RL is the best car that I drove in the bunch.

So here is my question.

I believe the driver's side door was replaced (vin sticker missing from the side, no biggie) it closes, locks, windows works well. However the nipple on the door handle (to lock) and the grip (to open) does not work. It works for the passenger door and the trunk but not for the drivers. A small grape but something I would like to fix.


So here are my questions.
1) I tried the hold the button (reset the handle) method mentioned here didnt seem to work (hold the lock button on the FOB and hit the nipple). Open to hear any self troubleshooting suggestions here.

2)If i have to replace the handle, how much does that typically cost at the dealership? I understand that there is a TSB on the handle for this car and be happy to pay some portion of the labor and what not(FYI I have no dealership relationships at this moment).

As always, greatly appreciate the expertise and guidance from this site.

Pretty sure it runs about $400 for the part new. Dealership won't help you out.

I would suggest going the eBay route and if you can find a auto parts place with a warranty, go that route...parts are super expensive and there are enough junkyard cars you should be able to find the color you need.
