Hey,

I am wondering specifically which fuse to pull to reset Check Engine Light notification. Today I got a "Check Emissions" CEL and code P0401. Before I take this to the dealer, my plan is to reset the fuse and proceed.

If the light comes back on, head to Auto-Zone for a OBD2 scan.

If the code says EGR, I plan to remove the valve and clean it. From my readings, the EGR valve is located at the right side front of the engine. A fairly easy fix.

If cleaning the EGR valve doesn't work, try a bottle of Seafoam through the gas tank on a full tank.

Am I on the right track here?

you can clear the light with a battery cable pull, the "message center" may not clear.

 

Sounds like your on the right track. Clean up the EGR, run some seafoam then disconnect the battery for 10 minutes.

 

Got in my car this morning and CEL light was off as well as Check Emissions warning. I read that this can be caused by a loose gas cap. I did just get gas before the CEL came on. Checked the cap and it was on and tight.

Weird. I'm planning on monitoring it and other system functions with a bluetooth OBD2 scanner.


Side note: I was very low on fuel when I gassed up. I'm rarely that low. 0 miles on dash computer.

If it's the gas cap, the RL will tell you with a message in the MID. Turn to three clicks, but that's not your issue here.
