2005 RL: Not good vibrations
Hoping contributors can help with a vexing and totally intermittent problem. Sometimes at highway speeds my RL starts to make a rumbling sound, paired with vibration as if the road is rough. This will continue until I come to a complete stop. When brakes are applied to come to the complete stop, the car vibrates violently, as if one was braking with bad rotors while stopping over railroad tracks. BUT, everything is then back to a normal smooth ride as soon as I resume driving after the complete stop. The problem may occur twice in a week, or recur only after a three week hiatus. Very strange. Input as to a diagnosis and solution? Thanks.

Experiencing the same thing. Not really getting the violent shaking you mention but the car feels like its driving on a rough dirt road and not the smooth highway where this happens. This doesn't happen very often and it doesn't seem to last very long but it is certainly bothersome.
I posted a thread a while back about the car shuddering which is the same issue.

I know exactly what you are talking about! It happened to me only once about 6 months ago, and I had no idea what was happening. I was starting to freak out. At first, I thought it was very rough road, though it looked smooth. I was actually following someone, and when we got to our destination, I commented on the rough road, and they were like, 'what are you talking about?" I would be interested in finding out what it was. I do not know what caused it. I did get my front brakes replaced a couple months after that. Maybe my brakes locked up a bit or did not fully release back?

So your going to post a video or are we just going to keep trying to read your mind?

No offense to the OP, but at 60, I am willing to bet taking videos while driving and uploading them to the Interwebz isn't his preferred method of finding a solution.
OP, does the vibration come through the steering wheel, or does it affect the whole body of the car. Me thinks steering wheel = anything from the axels to tires. Whole car = suspension. I don't know why, but I'm guessing tie rod.

Sometimes those machined brake disks warp again if they warm up again.
Check if one of the wheels is warming up more than the others, that will indicate dragging brake. Maybe one of the pistons is little bit jammed in the caliber.
Dont burn your fingers when touching the wheels!
